Do you like Sabeans approach this off season? I mean he is not going after Matt Holliday (doesn't want to overspend) or Jason Bay (who would be a good fit and will be far cheaper than Holliday).

IT looks like Sabean is trying to sign Derosa, Adam Laroche or Nick Johnson.

If we could sign two of the three, would u be happy with them over like a big time hitter like Bay or Holliday? Maybe Sabean wants to save money to lock up Lincecum and maybe Cain?

Potential line up/roster?

1. Velez OF (Ugh)
2. Freddy Sanchez 2B/SS
3. Adam Laroche/Nick Johnson 1B
4. Pablo Sandoval 3B
5. Mark Derosa 2B/SS
6. Aaron Rowand OF
7. Nate Schierholtz/Fred Lewis OF
8. Buster Posey/FA C
9. Lincecum/Cain/Zito/Sanchez/Bumgarner

Rotation:
1. Lincecum
2. Cain
3. Zito
4. Sanchez
5. Bumgarner

Set up: Affeldt
Closer: Wilson

No different than past Pirates lineups. Freddy Sanchez, Adam LaRoche...Sandoval can't do it all himself. ****** lineup.

This is the more likely lineup that I've seen. Coming off the bench, they will have Fred Lewis (but likely to be traded), Frandsen (likely to be traded), Burris (for SS or 2B), Whiteside (C), and Bowker (1B or OF). It doesn't look much better than last year, but you're forgetting that they had a winning record with what little they had last year.

lewis and frandsen for kouzmanoff and not sign those FA or maybe 1? derosa since he can play 1B, 2B, 3B, OF

If we're able to get Kouz for that price, I would say go for it. I'd still sign DeRosa though as our super utility guy. He could probably start at left field.

line up with freddy, kouz, pablo and derosa.

that's already 2X better than last year.

Wouldn't put DeRosa at short.

He played 3B for the Cardinals most of the time. He's an okay defender. You can put him in the corner outfield spots too, but I don't think he has the kind of power you'd want from your corner spots. I haven't seen him play 2B, so I can't judge on that, but I'd probably keep him on 3B/LF/RF.

Have you seen the productive we've gotten from LF the past 2 years? LOL - I would say put him in LF because AT&T Park is tough in RF, and I'm not sure if DeRosa can defend well enough in RF.

Haha, Fred Lewis, Eugenio Velez? I'm just saying, most of the time you'd like your corner outfielders to have a lot of power. I don't see DeRosa having much power really, to me he just seems like a very good #6 hitter. 15/80ish. But, who knows, maybe his wrist was really bothering him with St. Louis.

True, I don't know that much about DeRosa, but I think that he probably hits a lot of doubles which turn into triples at AT&T. He's definitely contribute 15/80 because that would be better than 75% of the lineup last year!

So, Yorvit's not signing after all. ::facepalm::

Will the Giants be going after him?

I believe Torrealba could start for a few teams, but we'll see how the off-season goes.
Dang, image makes me want to pounce on his super....

Yeah, Chris > Yorvit.

He wants Pudge money, and that isn't going to sit well... for a man that will potentially (probably) be a back-up.
