PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONT GIVE UP BROWN OR BELT! We need our hitting prospects. WE have done so well with pitching prospects so another very talented pitcher who is pitching well is hard to give up, but its not like our rotation isn't stacked already. As much as it hurts, I think its more acceptable to give up our best pitching prospect when we have guys like Lincecum, Cain, Volgensong, Bumgarner and Sanchez. Who do we have hitting wise, an injured Buster Posey and a rejuvenated Pablo Sandoval and a late emerger Nate Schierholtz (ahhh yeeeah!).

Anyways i really hope beltran performs and if he does, resign him for 2 more years

Pretty good deal for the Giants. Got the top hitter available on the market and looks like the Mets are paying most of his salary for the rest of the year in exchange for a prospect.

I woud not like that deal if i were a Giants fan. You are giving up your top prospects and future for a guy that has maybe 3 years left in the tank.

It is Wheeler for Beltran and $4 million. Wheeler didn't have a spot in this rotation because of Surkamp's success in AA. Giants are looking to win within the next 4 years, Wheeler will be up in 3 maybe 4 years.

He and Huff are the only ones who qualify, Pablo, Keppinger and Nate don't qualify. Beltran will become the leader in almost everything.

I'm pretty nervous. I really don't want Jonathan Sanchez. In my eyes, he's a 4. And he's a 4 on the rotation made up of a bunch of 4's.

I wish the Rangers were more involved.

wut? Lincecum and Cain are 4's?

bro...you mad.

LOL...he was #2 on the Giants. Lincecum Sanchez Cain Vogelsong Bumgarner

Now with the recent success it is Lincecum Bumgarner Cain Vogelsong Sanchez

If pablo had enough at bats he'd be leading with a .300 and 9 HR and nate's been doing well too.

But my point was I hope he continues to perform like he is .290 avg and 15 HR power. We gave up a lot so I expect a lot in return, you know what i mean?

Personally I would rather have Wheeler over Belt in this deal. They already have Davis at 1B and F-Mart can come up to play OF.

If they somehow get them both then the Mets are truly the winners here.
Belt also plays OF.

Do you think Wheeler's card values go down now that he has been traded? I mean it's not like he went to the Royals, the Mets have a big following and market. Thoughts?
stay the same or a little bump

SF may not be as strong as NY, but they have a strong fan base/have had A LOT of recent success with their prospects.
Lincecum, Cain, Sanchez, Bumgarner, Posey, Pablo, Brian Wilson, hopefully belt haha

so a big city, WS champs, recent success and the W factor, his cards should stay around teh same like previously stated.

Also i wish/just imagine if posey and sanchez was healthy, giants would actually have a respectable offense for once :(

1. Lead off
2. Sanchez
3. Posey
4. Beltran
5. Sandoval
6. Nate..

Wow sorry but the Giants are completely stupid for giving up Wheeler for a 2 month rental player. With a prospect that talented you cannot just give him up for a 2 month player, and it isn't like they are getting a superstar either.

I read it that if Sanchez was traded to the Mets, who have a rotation full of 4's, would be a #4 starter as well.

It's not like they are getting a player who would lead their team in EVERY batting category while giving up a guy who might not be able to make their rotation for another 3-4 years. In 2013-14 it will probably be Bumgarner Lincecum Cain Surkamp Free agent, Wheeler would be a nice #5 but Beltran is worth more to them NOW.

He said it in the present tense, saying he is #4 on a the rotation made up of a bunch of 4s

In the short term, the Giants got the better deal. However, looking towards next season, I think the Mets are better off with this deal.

Tough to see Wheeler go but I really don't want to see Brown leave so soon, he looks like a stud in the making, he's going nuts in San Jose right now.
