The Yankees DFA Brian Roberts to make room for Drew. I can't help but wonder if the O's will look into claiming/signing him.

Hope he plays 2nd base alright then, not being a natural position. Sounds like even so he will be an upgrade to what you had but I'm glad that Yankee fans are happy aout this trade. I'm just glad Bogaerts can go back to SS and have Holt/Middlebrooks at 3rd (when WMB returns from the DL).
I think it was more of a win win deal than a lot of others. If drew can improve his offense just a little bit and with his defense he is wayyyyy better than Roberts who recently has looked awful in the field. Roberts has been making errors left and right and Johnson was an awful idea to play at back up first.

Well Drew's bat can't get any worse really...he's streaky as hell though so you never know. Kind of funny that we play the Yankees this weekend though, should be interesting.

I think it was more of a we can't get worse offensively than Roberts but the defense got upgraded a ton. So it was a big upgrade even if drew only hits 200

Yes. Pitching is not the issue from. The yanks. It's hitting and fielding. And they just got better in both categories and Beltran looks like he's turning it around and headley looks very good.

Drew, prado, mccarthy, capuano, headley for Kelly Johnson, obrien, nuno and solarte is a damn good deadline for the yanks

Yanks traded Pete O'Brien? If so, to who??

FYI, Drew's nickname up here around where I live is "Nancy."

edit: just found it

Huge win for the D'Backs. Yanks aren't too bright trading him for Prado, IMHO.

What are you talking about. They are selling high on obrien as he is bad. Over 100 ks already in double a. Prado is a great pickup for the yanks. He will probably take over at second next year and is a valuable asset to have. Getting hum just for Pete is a steal.
I hope you're kidding.

Think Shelley Duncan. An even shittier fielding version.

I have to think Refsnyder gets the 2B job. Hell, if Drew can't adapt quickly enough we may see him sooner rather than later.

Keet telling yourself that.

Strikeout %; HR per AB:

Kris Bryant: 32%; 1:11.4 (34 HR): 1.12 OPS
Pete O'Brien: 27%; 1:11.7 (33 HR): .906 OPS

Congrats D'Backs.

Yeah I think he takes over at second next year and drew is gone unless they like what they see and sign him for SS

i really hope headley is back next year as he's looked good

Your not even close to looking at the whole picture. Obrien has no real position as his defense is poor and he's blocked by other players. He hits a lot of homers and strikeouts a ton. Basically Adam Dunn is his ceiling IMO. They sold high on him and got Prado who is very very good and definitely improves the team.

Who knew Stephen Drew would be the guy to get the Yankees over the top and win them the AL East crown?
