Cubs acquired LHP Tom Gorzelanny and LHP John Grabow from the Pirates for RHPs Kevin Hart and Jose Ascanio, and INF Josh Harrison.
Gorzelanny has a 4.79 career ERA and a 1.50 career WHIP, but the Cubs are obviously hoping a change of scenery will help him the right ship. He had a 5.19 ERA in nine relief appearances with the Pirates this season before being demoted to the minors on June 10. The 27-year-old needs some work, and some self confidence, but he's a worthwhile experiment.

He's been nasty in AAA this season. Not sure why Pirates gave up on him.

Will Cubs use him in the rotation or bullpen?

With all the trades the Pirates have been making I knew the Cubbies would get a few players before tomorrow. The Pirates have been fun trading partners with the Cubs.

Wow trade Hart on the upside. so who is now the 5th starter.
I did not see this coming. But the Cubs did need some left handed help

I don't remember a team dumping all of its good veterans so quickly as the Pirates have this season.
What a pathetic team they are.
And it's a shame, since Pittsburgh has such model franchises in the Steelers and Penguins.

What's next for the Pirates, are they going to start dumping their AAA team to rebuild A ball?

Milledge is getting called up. They say he's going to be a everyday player.

Florida Marlins after their first World Series?

They had a Winter Fire Sale.

The Marlins came to mind, but that was after the season.
The Pirates are gutting their team mid-season, which seems unusual.

Actually, they don't. With Milledge coming up, the Pirates will now have 14 players on the 25 man roster that spent time in AAA this season. The rest of this season is going to be a disaster.
