Expecting these to be like the ones UD did with huge jumbo patches

The prices people paid expecting something with a little effort behind it.

I don't see the issue w/ them. They were an addition. people bought them expecting to make bank and didn't. They were a crap shoot.
I realize the secondary market created the hype and drove the prices, but a slap with a wet dick would be better than those cards.

If they were the top players, people would be making money on the people that sold for less. It is was it is.

What made anyone think these would be anything but what the gu coming from packs would be? Topps never said they'd be huge at one per 4 box case.

We don't even know what these cards will sell for yet. We also don't know if there will be parallels randomly distributed. So far we have seen two different cards each numbered to 65. I have a few of these coming so maybe I am hoping that they are better than what they actually are, but the negativity surrounding these redemptions is not warranted.

Can't complain folks, you blindly bought a redemption from a Topps product expecting a huge patch.
Name one Topps product besides Triple Threads that features jumbo patch swatches.
99% of Topps cards are single color swatches.

I blindly sold mine and I'm glad I did!

I think they look nice! For those saying that Upper Deck's cards were better than these...are you sure? While I agree that UD's cards were a bit more rare (65 copies vs. just 8 copies), the cards themselves weren't that much better. Here's an example of UD's effort 3 years ago:

I think the complaints are due to everyone remembering the "Winning Big" patches from 2006 and hoping that's what was coming their way with these redemptions. Topps instead placed the big patches in their "best" product (which makes sense to me at least).

I personally like the way that UD card is designed. The one from UD. The one from Bowman Sterling took no imagination.

agreed
For the record, I do too. However, the UD cards (the ones I've seen anyway) are very condition-sensitive on the edges. I imagine the Sterling cards are good-to-go in that respect. I actually like the fact that these Sterling patch cards "match" the design of the other cards in the set as well.

I just noticed the fine print on the Sterling...it says jersey instead of patch. ::facepalm::
I wish the companies would wake up & realize the state of the hobby today. If it's a patch, make sure it states just that!

Just got off the phone with the Topps CSR Manager and he said that there are no parallels either. No surprise there. I am happy I only have one coming. I wasn't expecting much, so hopefully I am pleasantly happy when I get my player.
