Went to the Palisades Mall in West Nyack NY today and one of the items to pick up was the 2009 World Series DVD.
Stopped in at FYE, grabbed a copy ($30) and when I went to pay, the cashier told me I get a free auto of Mariano Rivera.
I chuckled for a second, then kiddingly asked her "is it real?" to which she replied yes.
I still didnt think it was, thinking it was a stamped auto on some promotional photo until she told me that he was at the store on December 7 for over an hour signing the DVD fold out cover with each DVD purchase. They had some extras to give out after he left.
To say I was SHOCKED would be an understatement. Needless to say I went back and bought another DVD and got another free Mo auto.
Funny thing is though that I dont recall seeing any signs anywhere in the store or windows about this promotion now which is probably why they still had autos left six days after he was there.
I picked up the last 2 DVDs on the shelf and mentioned it to the clerk who said they probably still have more copines in the back.
If you are nearby, you should probably make a run and see if they have any autos left.
Below is what it looks like (obviously its not the entire fold out cover) gtaken from an ebay auctions (no not mine).
