Got wood?

Ever since Leaf came out with Lumberjacks, I've liked cards printed and/or etched on wood. How about a thread with such cards. I'll start.

I really liked 2005 Upper Deck Classics' Fantasy Team insert. It's 18 guys, with a stated print run of 36 copies each. They are pretty sweet, laser-etching on real wood, with a die-cut window for the set name. Over the years I've got all but one. Can't remember who it is (Brooks Robinson?), but I'm pretty sure I'll either get it eventually, or die, one or the other.

I like the 2002 UD 40 Man Lumber Yard cards myself.

Those are both badass sets, and I've never seen either one.

I used to buy 2005 UD CLassics at Wal Mart for like $50 a box. Must have gotten 8 boxes over time (looking back.. ech). I sold quite a few lesser autos from that set. Had some decent $20 -$30 insert sales (silver/platinum parallels). Best 2 pulls were the Mantle Fantasy Wood team and the Ted Williams. I think I pulled in right around $300 after selling those two.

Wow I've never seen that set before. It looks great. UD's 1997 Amazing Greats insert set was wood with a plastic pic of the players head, that was a good set. I miss 90's inserts.

I love wood cards and the ones I see so far are amazing. Mine are printed but I'm now on the lookout for some etched.

Which set on the Rolen, 40 Man Lumber Yard or Fractal Matrix?

Those Lumber Yards are pretty cool. I never had one in person, and never realized they were actual wood. I thought they were just wood pattern on paper. Something else to chase.

Here's the one that started it all for me. I remember gladly paying $40 for it back in the day. Still a sweet card.

I just came across this card. I've never seen or heard of this set, 2003 Flair Greats of the Grain (get it?)

The image appears to be etched or burned into the wood like the Classics Fantasy Teams, but with a much lower level of detail, which would be why it looks like Schmidty is holding a volleyball under his arm. Still, this has to be on one to keep an eye out for.

Everybody remebers their first wood. Mine was in 1997.

Fleer gave out wood #/999 with this set in 2003

I think the "Classic Fantasy Team" is unnecessary.
