So here's a thought,

we are all concerned about the condition of the card when it comes to grading. But do you guys care about the condition of the slab? So now are we concerned about two conditions of a card - the card itself and the case that it is in?

i recently started a sub collection for my PC that involves getting graded rookies. I got my first, but the slab is lightly scuffed on the front.

i was just wondering what the boards thoughts were.

Update: adding a pic. The scan doesn't show it very well, but the scuff is there between his legs

When you say scuffs, are you referring the very faint, visible only under direct light (not visible in scans), lines on the plastic surface of the slab? Those lines are already there when the slabs come straight from BGS.

Any slabbed cards or uncirculated encased cards should be kept in a graded card bag IMO. It bothers me because they aren't like a top loader or one touch. They were meant to stay encased. So yeah, theoretically you would like to have the slab or case minus scratches and scuffs.

Obviously it's always nice to have a clean slab, but realistically most of them are going to have some form of light scuffing or scratches. I'd only be upset about it if the slab was cracked or the scuffs/scratches were extremely obvious and noticeable and there was no mention of them in the listing.

I am OCD about scuffed cases. Like someone already mentioned, there is no reason for them to not be in a bag. If see a card I want, even at a good deal, if the case is even remotely scratched up I will pass. I understand the 'pristine' look of a fresh slab gets 'worn' after a while, but ANY scuffs, scratches, fractures, cracks, or any noticeable blemish due to piss poor handling and I am put off.
