Well before purchasing the card the seller of that card should have noticed that is was horribly off center. Even if all the other grades came back perfect 10's, you can only receive a final grade that is .5 higher than the lowest sub. So at best it could have gotten an 8 if everything was perfect, so he is basically an idiot for even grading it since the centering is so bad.

However, I think you have a point that a card like that should have had better corner and edges since it was uncirculated. My guess is the seller took it out of the case and damaged it.

Being that its a 1/1 (although not pack-issued), the grade won't matter a whole lot to most people anyway... although I love how well protected that card is.

That's really weird to do for those. They come in a bgs case already. There's little to no reason to grade one.

They come in Topps Uncirculated Cases. All of the ones that I have (ranging from 2009 to 2011) are in 75pt+ Topps Uncirculated cases.

In other words, lots of place for the cards to move around. I wouldn't be surprised if that damage came from the Topps case.

They just started to come out with them in BGS slabs, but prior, they were just in uncirculated holders. Though even the new ones aren't graded, not that it would make that much of a difference in value I would assume

I have a Granderson from 07 with a BGS case.

When thetoppsvault first started listing on ebay a lot of their cards, not all that I can recall, were in BGS cases. A relatively short time later they went to the uncirculated cases. I have a couple of Brooksie cards in the BGS case, but then Topps did it themselves. As mentioned above, the mini's are coming out in BGS cases; it's been years, as far as I know, since Topps has done the set this way.

Big fan of these cards, just bought the 2 Nyjer Morgan Mini's, one for a frame job and the other for a coworkers kid who loves Nyjer. Don't really see the point in grading them.

Fan of the Topps Vault. Also been thinking about sending a few in. Alot of mine have centering issues as well.
