I went to a local show yesterday that had five dealers and twenty tables. I obviously wasn't expecting to find much, but I came away quite happy. It was great to meet a few guys and chit chat with some others who remembered me from when I was a kid at the local malls shows which have all but dissapeared. I was even offered the opportunity to set up at their next show which will be in a hotel across from Bright House Networks Field, the home of the Phillies Spring Training later this month. I'll probably take them up on that offer because space was very reasonably priced and with the out of towners in that area for Spring Training, it could be a very nice show.
I was going to wait until I actually scanned the cards to make this thread, but lately I've been using the scanner at my girlfriend's house because it is much better than mine. And since we're going to a wedding this afternoon I don't see myself having the time to do it later either. So for a cool $155 I got these:
Lower End:
2011 Topps USA Blue Ink Auto William Abreu
2011 Bowman Chrome USA Base Auto Carson Sands SP (now only Red and Super away from his rainbow....but that won't happen)
1992 Topps Gold Auto Brien Taylor (saw it and had to get it, probably the first high $ prospect card when I was starting to collect)
2011 Bowman Chrome Draft Auto Brandon Martin
2012 Bowman Platinum Auto Carter Capps
2010 Bowman Chrome USA Auto Daniel Camarena
2011 Bowman Paper Auto Zack Wheeler
2012 EEE Auto Lewis Brinson #/789
2012 Bowman Chrome Blue Ref Auto Felipe Rivero #/150 (I have five now, and this one is BY FAR the best centered, a serious BGS 10 candidate which for these miscut 2012 Autos is amazing)
2012 Bowman Sterling Auto David Dahl
2012 Bowman Sterling Auto Nick Castellanos
2011 Prime Cuts Auto Josh Bell #/249
And now for the goodies (it's really hard to build drama without pictures) :
2012 EEE Auto Byron Buxton #/595
2004 Leaf Rookie and Stars Fans of the Game Auto Regis Philbin
2012 EEE Emerald Status DC Auto Mac Williamson #/25
And......
2004 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia Jumbo GU Jacket Ted Williams #/100
The last Willams sold for $51, Buxton gets $40 or so, Regis anywhere from $15-$30, and Williamson only Emerald got $41 with another one ending tonight. So just with those four I'm already doing pretty well. But most of these will probably be held except maybe Buxton which I figure can't do much better than right now especially when his Chrome Auto hits the market.
