my only thought is this statement by Kizer: "if there’s any contributory effect of the illegal blows, disqualification’s the call." That is a pretty loose statement there. I mean, even when a guy gets a nut shot, there's going to be some contributory effect in the rest of the fight. Whether they move a little slower or if they just have it in the back of their head, it contributes some. According to Kizer's bolded word, we should be DQ'ing people left and right. I'm sure that Anthony Johnson would have liked that loss off of his record to Kevin Burns (the one that tore up his eye with his finger) but that didn't seem to feel the need to reverse that one either.

I believe that the loss will be overturned into a no contest.

Hammil couldn't continue due to his shoulder, not the elbow strikes. And the poor officiating is what will get the call overturned. Mazzagatti asked a deaf blind man if he was able to continue. What in the hell is he expecting, an answer? Mazzagatti should have gotten his translator in there, talked to him first before making the decision. Matt should have been allotted the 5 minute grace period due to the illegal strikes, not end the fight and call it a DQ loss.

Poor poor officiating.

Mazzagatti proves yet again why he is the worst ref of all time.
