I can tell you that Braves' nation is po'd. Most believe he had no intention on coming to the Braves, and used them them to squeeze as much as he could out of the Mariners.

Great News!

I hope he makes it to the Fan Fest in Peoria this weekend. I also plan to see a few more mariner's games this spring then I had orginally planned.

Just watching the MLB network, and they showed a clip from 1999 when he was with the Mariners..

Harold said he would probably be playing left field.. The games I go to are in section 150/151.. which is right above the manual scoreboard..

I think the M's just sold a ton of more season tickets...

I'm a seating host on the team that covers those sections.. would be neat to sometime meet the biggest Gar collector there is. Not sure how much I'll be working the games this year but I'll be at as many as I can that's for sure.

I try and sit there, normally I get the games with the little old lady.. unless that's you..

Tht makes no sense to me at all..

So you're saying he squeezed out 2 mill. possibly 4.5 mill from the Mariners by saying he might sign elsewhere lol, that is hillarious. He's not the Kid anymore, but it's still Griffey he's still worth more than that.

The Braves were a legitimate option because of the proximity to his home but instead he chose to go back to his roots. Course I guess the braves can also blame Willie Mays while they're at it.

I guess the possibility of signing Junior and not getting him will make you think of all sorts of reasons why it didn't work even if they're legit or not. It would be the same here if he went to Atlanta instead.. but not quite on the same level, we already dealt with it after he was traded "for family reasons".

Haha, nope that's not me but I've proly seen you many times and not even known it. I normally don't have an aisle as I prefer to keep moving around talking with folks and whatnot. So I'm the break person most nights I'm working. You ever catch any HR balls over there?

If you get MLB Network, watch Harold Reynolds talk about what Griffey went through the last few days..

He was about ready to sign with the M's while he was out here playing golf in the Pro-Am and had to go back to Atlanta after they made an offer as well..

He even called a few players like Willie Mays, former teammates and even Hank Aaron..

I think it was Mays that told him that he will be forever remembered as a Seattle Mariner, so he might as well retire as a Mariner.

Thank god!!! I am a pure NL fan, but am beyond happy the REAL KING of baseball is finally going home. Arod, Bonds, and others make Griffey's career that much more impressive!!

Wrong...Griffey called the Braves and told them he was interested in playing for them...that is the only reason Wren went after him.

I am convinced that Griffey absolutely used the Braves to leverage more money from the Mariners, and that he had no intention to sign with the Braves.

It totally makes sense...why would the Mariners offer more money than what was originally rumored (only two million including incentives) unless there was the appearance that Griffey would go elsewhere?

Nope, the last game I was there was a Yankee game when I took my dad for his birthday to his first game at Safeco..

Man it's gonna feel like 1997 in Seattle for the home opener. He is the one that shoulda broke the record. He never should have left. But it is great that he is gonna end it where it should rightfully end. Hurray to the greatest baseball player of my generation. Im sure that the 89 UD card is responsible for alot people on here being the big collectors they are. In my opinion the greatest and cleanest slugger of the last 30 years. hell , the greatest slugger since the heyday of mantle and Mays. Clean, and he could hit throw, run , he did it all. I know Bonds will always be in the arguement, but Griffey was better then all of them in his prime.

I just pick up a few cards here and there so I don't really have a want list.. There are a few cards I am watching right now on EBAY..

One of the regulars that goes to the shop I go to is friends with Ted Buhner (where I got the Griffey 1st Base glove).. said that Ted wants to get rid of some more stuff that Jay brought back from their dads house.. I told him to pick a day and have Ted show up at the card shop and then I can see if anyone else wants to show up and pick up a few items..

Interested?

I'm always up for checking out memorabilia, I'd certainly return the favor somehow since I would have never known if you never said anything.

Let me know when and I'll try my hardest to make sure I can get down there.

If you're not counting PED's against him Bonds' prime was the best of any hitter ever.

It's ironic that Upper Deck's potential last baseball card ever produce may actually be Griffey pictured in a Mariners uniform...
