I can tell you that Braves' nation is po'd. Most believe he had no intention on coming to the Braves, and used them them to squeeze as much as he could out of the Mariners.

Tht makes no sense to me at all..

So you're saying he squeezed out 2 mill. possibly 4.5 mill from the Mariners by saying he might sign elsewhere lol, that is hillarious. He's not the Kid anymore, but it's still Griffey he's still worth more than that.

He also squeezed out a lifetime personal services contract from the Mariners. However, I'm not that upset about a guy that would have been 39 year old platoon player, even if he would have been a great fit for the season. His name is a big part of his new contract, it just so happened it meant more to Seattle than it did to Atlanta (and rightfully so).

I would have been seriously pissed if the Braves gave the same contract the Mariners did, but the roles they have planned for him make it apples to oranges in terms of contracts. Congrats on getting him back. I know it means a lot more to M's fans than it would Braves fans.

Yeah...the Braves couldn't afford to give that contract. I'm just bitter cuz I'm positive that Griffey used the Braves. He had no intention on signing with them. I always thought he was a stand up guy, but now he's just another baseball player to me.

Man it's gonna feel like 1997 in Seattle for the home opener. He is the one that shoulda broke the record. He never should have left. But it is great that he is gonna end it where it should rightfully end. Hurray to the greatest baseball player of my generation. Im sure that the 89 UD card is responsible for alot people on here being the big collectors they are. In my opinion the greatest and cleanest slugger of the last 30 years. hell , the greatest slugger since the heyday of mantle and Mays. Clean, and he could hit throw, run , he did it all. I know Bonds will always be in the arguement, but Griffey was better then all of them in his prime.

If you're not counting PED's against him Bonds' prime was the best of any hitter ever.

thats my point, im saying without roids, in his prime he was better then bonds' prime without roids. Bonds' prime pre roids was 93-98 , Griffeys was better, and Griff should have won more MVP awards but lost out to juiced players. Mo Vaughn, Juan Gonzalez, Pudge, etc.
