Was looking for Bulls tix the other day......obviously the Heat game was sold out right away, so that stunk.
Went looking for other games. Found some tickets for Bulls vs. OKC.......they have a new system where you just pick the section and seats, picked some 300 level seats and was going to check out - then I noticed the price.....

$133 before fees for 2 300 level seats.

Used to buy the back row 300 section seats that were really affordable - but looks like they cut back on those for all but a couple games. Upwards of $70 for an upper level seat just seems a bit crazy......and maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but it seems about $20 more a seat than last year and even more than playoff tickets I've gotten in the past. Didn't know Kyle Korver and Carlos Boozer were worth that much.

Anyone else see increases like that this year?

the team is not good enough to warrant those prices. Actually no NBA team warrants those prices, maybe the Heat, but not many more than that.

That's exactly what I was thinking.
Since I went through the Bulls site, and there was that new seat finding tool I had never seen, I actually thought I was in the Bulls version of "Stubhub" and that's why the prices were so high. Then went through Ticketmaster and saw that was actually what they were charging.

I'm looking again:
They have standing room seats now their selling for reg. season - $37 to see the Lakers SRO.
300 level is $67 + 47 for a Tuesday night game vs. the 76ers.
Did find one game with the traditional discounted upper 300 level - Can see the Warriors on a Thursday night for under $20.

Dude, I hear ya. I had Bulls pre-sale access on Wednesday. Couldn't get any two seats together. ::facepalm::

So I get up Friday morning hoping to get seats for two specific games, Detroit and of course the Heat.

My girl is a Pistons fan, so I wanted to get decent seats. I got 2 100 Level seats (ok ones).

Seat location: section 106, row 11, seats 1-2
Total Charge: US $ 299.14

::facepalm::

Ok so I try and get standing room for the Heat game. I had one, then lost it because I went back for another. Two seconds later, they were all gone. So I go over to Stub Hub and ended up paying $59 apiece for two standing room tickets. Last I checked, court side were going for $6,500.

I hate spending that much, but I figure I don't go very often (unless its free), so I sucked it up. I don't have any kids, no mortgage, not married. I don't understand how they expect a small family to pay these prices. I used to go to Blackhawks games all the time, but haven't gone in 2 years because the seats I used to pay $75 for the day of the game are now going for $300 per. Its crazy.

I may have to check that out then - as much as I was complaining about the prices it's probably worth it for the Heat.
I'd rather pay $60 for SRO for that (even though it's ridiculous) than to have a 300 seat at another game.

Either that or hope I can get playoff tickets.....for whatever reason it would be easier to justify the prices for a playoff game.

Past years I'd buy the cheap seats for a few games....I knew they either would be sold out or not available for a few games, Lakers and Cavs mainly.....but I always found them for decent games when they'd let you pre-order. That's why I was kind of shocked to see stuff like the Tue. 76'ers game with the cheapest seat at $47 or whatever.

Lakers kind of did that this year but not to that extent. Lakers have a few small sections that they charge $10 a seat for. In 2008, every game was $10 in these few sections, in 2009 they charged $20 for a few premium games and the rest $10. This year, only a few games were $10, the majority $15, the better games at $50, and the Heat/Celtics at $150.

Not too bad but it sucks I can't go to the OKC for under $100. With that being said, I got 3 games in the presale in the cheap section, 7 games in the cheap sections in today's public onsale and a few games in the lower level from stubhub for below face value.

I like that the Lakers have some affordable seats, because for the most part, it's pretty expensive. I would like there to be some reasonable lower level prices, $95 is the cheapest.

For this very reason I have not gone to a game in 4 years. It seems every year the prices go up and seating in the 300 sections is not worth the price. I can't see paying that kind of money and sitting way the hell up there.

Heat single game tickets went on sale last week. They offered some $10 tickets for every game. They are absolutely horrible seats (400 level, baseline, way up in the rafters). I managed to get $10 tickets for the Jazz (my favorite team) and the Celtics later in the spring. Of course there are $15 of fees on a $10 ticket! Tried to get a few other games at $10, but they were sold out by the time I got the others.

I know, the fees are ridiculous!

I remember Bulls tickets always being stupid high in comparison. I lived in Chicago right after Jordan left, and they still wanted to charge crazy amounts like they had something going on. I guess that's the advantage of having a team in a big city. There's always someone willing to pay I guess. :?

That is true. I think the past few years they have been amongst the highest already.....guess that's why I was shocked to see such a large jump from the already high prices.

And like someone was describing with the Lakers - in the past they've had the upper half of the 300 level around $15-25 depending on the game. Those are the ones I'd always get.....they were "the worst" seats, but it was still fun and worthwhile cause it would be around $40 for me and my gf to go. But it looks like they've pretty much phased those out - which is funny since I got all these survey's during the off-season from the Bulls and the NBA and they were all about how they can make it a more family friendly and affordable experience.

Guess it's like baseball now, because it looks like other than the premium games I can just get tix from season ticket holders on Stubhub for $10-20 less than buying them direct from the team.

its nice living by the pacers. i've already gotten a free pair of lower level seats and its still preseason. i went to probably 12 or 15 home games last year and spent less than $200 total, and never sat in the upper level.
