How long did the hunt take you?

Actually, it was cards like this and Select mirrors, and Flair masterpieces and legacys, and other low #'d cards that "forced" me to take a break from collecting around this time (1997-1998). I told myself, "I'll never get these, why even try." You see, I had a realistic goal at that time to get EVERY Gwynn card...

So I stopped, mostly...

Even when I picked back up 4 or 5 years later, I still thought I'd never get these types of cards, but my realistic goal was no longer every card, but just as many as I can.

So, thanks for the comments, guys! We have an awesome group of player collectors here at FCB, so we all can really celebrate (and emphasize) with each other!
