Does Durham play Norfolk within the first month? If so, we may have a clash of the titans between Price and Wieters, since it seems both will be "loaned" to AAA for a month or so.

i dont get that rule where they did it with longo last year. something about if the players join the team a few months after season starts, the team retains the player for an additional year or something? i could see this is the case for wieters

It doesnt change the player's length of his contract in any way, but it pushes back the players 1st year of arbitration eligibility by 1 year.

What's it like to not understand sarcasm?

I understood it completely and wanted to retire his number as well. We could even make Weiters and Rowell the next Bash Brothers. My hype comment was in general and not directed at your post.

No confirmation yet from any Orioles media sources. I'm surprised they'd cut him this quick...

Norfolk plays at Durham in the first series of the year for both teams.

He played in the game today but I believe an announcement was made saying he would definitely start the year in the minors.

They just needed more time to get his plaque done. They want to dot the I's and cross the T's and he will be ready for the bigs.

Holy carp, Norfolk OPENS in Durham !!!!!

Price vs Wieters opening day.

Although, that's gonna make it a bit harder to get excellent seats.

This maybe obvious, but it is silly to imply there is something wrong with Wieters' status as the next great hope because he was being sent down.

Maybe if he had already had a few cups of coffee in the Major Leagues and/or was coming off a couple of rough years in the minors, there would be some concern.

Who implied that?
