One day after making remarks critical of his manager and refusing to apologize for what skipper Fredi Gonzalez said was a lack of hustle in Monday night's game, Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez said on Wednesday that he hoped to move forward from the two-day saga.

Translation: His agent had a talk with him and told him it could cost his pocket if he didn't apologize.

Precisely. My view of him has really changed after this incident.

I USEDto be a huge fan of his. After this it really makes me wonder. As a player myself the one thing I will not tolerate from my teammates is a bad attitude/ lack of hustle.

Anyone got a video of it? I think they worst part is him calling out his coach and saying he doesn't know because he never played in the big leagues. Kinda messed up.

So has mine, I was never a huge fan or anything but always respected him as a player and the tremendous ability he has. I just can't respect someone who doesn't hustle and then makes excuses, blames the manager, and spends a solid two days crying like a little bitch to the media. Man up and just take responsibility. It's just not that hard to say: "I wasn't hustling. I'll try harder next time and it won't happen again."

Not to mention, apparently Hanley is the one that doesn't know because he's the one who looked like an idiot not hustling.

Apparently Andre Dawson and Tony Perez read him the riot act. If he doesn't respect Freddy's career, he sure as ***** better respect theirs.

Also, Wes Helms talked about how he came to each player and appologized, and he believed that hanley was embarrassed and truly remorseful.

Still, he said some awful crap. Stuff that you hope ball players don't really think. Stuff you can't really just take back.

I like that he just busted his ass out the box on a 1st inning ground ball and caused the 2nd baseman to have to hurry, possibly leading to him mis handling it.

GOod start hanley, lets see you keep itup.

Also it was just 1 day. People have bad days. if it happened all of the time it would be understandable.

I am willing to forgive him 1 time, shouldn't everyone else be able to do the same?

Fromo all accounts this is how he acts all the time. The hustle thing may be new but i have read before and some of his teammates said it as well this week that hanley thinks hes above the other players. He expects special treatent and has an im better then everyone else attitude and while that may be true on the field its no way to act towards teammates or people in general

I'm a Marlins fan.

I'll trade Hanley causing two unearned runs (in a game that the Marlins scored one run) for a .330/32/98 season any day of the week

Those number's mean squat if he becomes (or already is) a cancer to the team in the lockeroom... I guess we'll see how the team reacts as a whole after this incident (as well as how Hanley reacts) to determine if the Marlins are going to come together & solidify as a cohesive unit on the field, or if they're going to continue thier downward spiral that will inevitably self destruct! ....Inquiring minds wanna know! :P

Manny Ramirez and Pedro Martinez both had special treatment and other issues while with the Red Sox. I don't think it affected them in 2004.

True, but I was disproving the fact that putting up numbers doesn't mean anything if you aren't a good locker room guy. A GM just has to know what he's doing if he's going to build around a guy with personality issues. If he surrounds him with crap then he's just asking to see issues flare up. If he surrounds him with other good players or good locker room guys then they'll offset the one guy.
