I think the jersey cards in 2010 were the best "standard" jersey cards I saw all year from Topps. The patches were incredible too albeit hard to find. If they could beef up the auto checklist ( without leeching off the Bowman brand too badly) and just insert the Aflac's as they are ( ala the Red Zone Rookie auto's for the NFL) as a bonus hit then I think this product would be a HUGE hit.

AFLACs are Bowman Branded, it's a Topps Branded license, hence why AFLACs can't be in.

But isn't Bowman Topps branded? I thought they used the cuts to avoid the certified auto hoopla over guys that Razor had.

Also alot of the Aflacs Topps cuts up for Pro Debut are actually 2008 or earlier Aflac's which are Topps Logo'ed. No reason why they can't do this.

Cutting up the aflacs though. I just don't get it. Nobody likes it. Nobody.

Tell that to the people who were paying $125+ for the Singleton at and for a month following release.

I am paying about $20 for each Jarred COsart. I hate it, but there are no other cert autographs or any other cards of his on the market. When his Chrome auto hits, who knows what'll happen to these cut autos.

Its cheap and the big hits are monsters. To me it had the best game used of any set of last year. Also it is going to feature tons of players without bowman cards.

I think Pro Debut is freaking awesome. Been then again, there is nothing like getting autographs in the Minors or in the AFL. I have a vast collection of IP cards and baseballs. Its nice to see these guys early on, and also get a card signed. Most of the guys like seeing their cards, which to me is cool.

As for the prices, baseball cards are not just to "make money" last time I checked, it was a hobby.

Yeah but that wasn't (and isn't) because people were dying to get their hands specifically on a cut AFLAC auto, it was because they wanted to get their hands on a Singleton card and at the time they had no other options.

Cut up AFLAC cards are the worst, and most illogical cards of the 21st century. They flat out suck.

Thats only 1 aspect of the product. The game used, specifically the patch and logo cards makes up for it in my eyes.

Licensing wise it's two separate things. The last year they could insert is 2006 AFLACs, not many players coming out of that anymore to pro's.

If you're a TTM/IP MiLB autograph collector, the product is great. If you are a card person looking for another product to open and maybe flip a few cards from what you pull, not so great. It just depends on what you want from the product.

I'm just starting off as a "collector". Being from DC, I grew up watching the Skins, O's, Caps, Bullets/Wizards. I know they say you can't divide your loyalty, but I'm all about Home Teams...so I'll hold on to Nats, Ravens stuff too. (As well as Seattle since my wife is from there).

With that said, this hobby is NOT cheap. I'm not going to lie, I enjoy casebreaking. I'm not thinking $$$ but it's a rush to pull certain cards. I busted 2 cases of Series 1 this year and I haven't sold a single card!!! Stupid, yes...but it was so much fun! It's not about the quick flip. BUT, I need to recover money, or I won't be doing this for much longer. So it's important to me that there is value in a product so that I can recoup.

So yes...I'm interested in Pro Debut. Yes, I'd like to have some MiLB cards...maybe go to a game and get them signed. No, I'm not interested in buying singles because that's boring to me. And finally, if I can recover some of the money, it would make this product that much more appealing to me. Otherwise, I might just buy a few boxes and call it a day. I had my eye on this product before they announced Bryce Harper would be in it, but with the news, I wanted to see if it's more desirable. It also doesn't help that my LCS owner said it was junk last year. He had a very hard time selling them.

And I just want to say to everyone else, alot of you are very quick to judge. It's really hard to get good advice from experienced collectors on these forums because they will shun you pretty quickly as someone out to make a quick buck. I can tell you this, there are several OTHER ways for me to make a quick buck, and this is not one of them...it's hard work sorting cards and listing them on ebay. Part of the reason I haven't sold any of my Series 1.

IMO from what you said buying 2-3 boxes sounds like the best idea for you - its also exactly what I do myself, but I also buy singles. Good luck and have fun with your breaks!

I said it a few times last year, the most important "easy investment" parts to this product (aka non patches, aflacs) are the BASE CARDS as long as that player doesnt have an MLB card AND also those cards which show a player wearing his teams MLB jersey (instead of minors).

Banuelos proved that. Milb card or not, it IS his only "big name" card and THAT'S what sold the blues for $60 and base for $5-$10

Onto the subject, I cant understand why anyone would say it doesnt matter Bryce is in it?

Now, you will have a great chance of landing a BASE $5-$8 card and since I am assuming this will be very under ordered, I wouldnt be shocked if boxes are flooded with low numbered parallels (again). Landing anything numbered of Harper will be money.

All great points. Gives me a lot to think about. Thanks for the insight.

Okay, I might have to sleep on this one. And yes...FCB has the BEST price I've seen so far. They have the best price on several items. I need to open my own card store just so I can get my fix from watching others open cards. This hobby is killing me.

I apologize(if you took offense to my comments)-I thought you were looking at this as a "rip and flip" type of product.

I opened a TON of Pro Debut Series 2, I was getting it at $400 a case, which is just crazy low. I got one case for as low as $300, and got a Moustakas Futures Game patch card, the 1/1 which is the full Futures Game patch. Best GU card I have ever seen-just an amazing card. I bought multiple cases of Series 1, was able to sell the GU/autos to get back most of my investment-and I used the base to get autos at MILB games, which is a ton of fun.

Series 2 was actually a money maker, being a $400 per case product(after release, of course). So, it was the best of both worlds-I made money, and had a bunch of leftover cards to get signed.

At the buy in price now for 2011, it doesn't seem like a logical "rip and flip"-but as a collector, this stuff appeals a LOT to those who do the minor league autographs, and it's a lot of fun to open. But, it takes that special collector to appreciate it in my opinion. So if you aren't looking to make money, and want to get some MILB cards, I would recommend it. It was a lot of fun to open for me, but again I am big into minor league guys, and getting the autographs.

Brandon Belt's base cards apply to what you are saying.

Thing is we IP autograph collectiors want lots of these cards the same way we want lots of Bowman Draft. One box doesn't net us a but maybe six doubles at the most and Series 2 took about 2 boxes to make a set if not more.... Now am having to hit the boards to resupply on players that I saw during ST.

I'm in a good place for MiLB this season. Harper is up the street and Machado isn't too far away either. Both are in this product...so I'll have to see if I can get out to watch some of their games. I was thinking about a case, but I may just do boxes. I guess we'll see what happens to the prices. If they come down, I may jump on a case. If not, boxes will do.
