The record-setting Texas Tech quarterback signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Thursday.

Harrell is the NCAA Division I career leader in touchdown passes but wasn't drafted by the NFL. His workout with the Cleveland Browns did not result in a contract.

Harrell had to fight the perception that his numbers were the product of Texas Tech's offensive system and he didn't have the arm strength to succeed in the NFL.

The Roughriders are already two games into their season and have three quarterbacks on their roster. Their starter is former North Carolina quarterback Darian Durant, who had only four career CFL starts coming into the season.

I like it. The CFL is the perfect place for him to grow his game. Wide open field, higher-scoring games. It wouldn't surprise me to see him make the NFL one day still.

The NFL really needs a minor league system, and it really needs to stop recycling the same loser QBs. Jeff Garcia has a shot at a starting job this year. Scott Dreisbach and Todd Collins were both still in the league a year or two ago (Go Blue!). Meanwhile, accomplished NCAA QBs are cut loose before they are even given a shot. That's not right.

Scott Dreisbach...now there's a name I haven't heard in a while. He went to my highschool. I think he was a senior when I was a freshman.

Only thing I said to her was " Say my name! Say my Name!" Who's your Daddy! Who's your Daddy!"

In the words of most NFL scouts...

The spread offense is the worst thing a NCAA program can have if they wish to turn offensive players into NFL talents.

I have an idea that he will turn some heads in a the next couple of years and maybe then.Spread offense or not...he is suitable for the NFL in my opinion.

I live in Regina, Saskatchewan, and I am a season ticket holder. He wont see the field for at least a year, maybe longer.
