FWIW - a 1992 Bowman Alomar error with a football card on back, and another football card overprinted on front. But that was 33 years ago, when baseball card printing was still coming out of the dark ages. It's a little surprising that this still happens in 2024.

Actually, maybe it's not. There's no reason to expect card companies to be filled with employees who are outstanding at their jobs and never screw up. I can't think of any place I've worked at (except one) where every single person was talented, competent, and motivated.

I believe the print shop is responsible overall. Not that Topps QA shouldn't have caught this, but what can you expect from a company that increases production every year?

I would expect that not a lot of them made it into packs (if that is where those came from) before someone noticed. If they were print scraps, that would be more surprising these days, as I would guess that kind of thing is more closely guarded than it used to be. The card makers don't want people dumpster diving for stuff that they could sell themselves, but even the card makers aren't selling this kind of thing that I ever recall seeing. It's probably considered garbage to them.

Rare in regard to a limited number made, but in todays card hobby, that doesn't always equate to value. Heck, 1/1s have been so overused by now that most people have many and don't even bat an eye unless it's something really good. You can find off brand 1/1s and scrub players for $10 or less sometimes.

Probably limited appeal for something like this from a buyer standpoint, but you never know. Get the right subjects on a print flaw, throw in a couple rabid bidders and records can be set.
