Was at my local grocery store tonight and was surprised to see a hard cover book called "Mint Condition" about baseball cards in the book section. It appears its a brand new book with a copy right date of 2010. Sorry, i don't remember the author though.

I was just curious if anyone here has read it and is it worth picking up to read?

I think Mint Condition is a great book that covers the entirety of the baseball card industry. It has chapters about the early tobacco cards, high end vintage collectors, the origins of Topps, Donruss, Fleer, Upper Deck (don't remember to much about Score being in there), grading, and counterfeiting.
It is a pretty easy read too, read it on one weekend.

It is good, I just didn't like is attitude toward the current state of the hobby. He was very negative about everything over the last 10 years. I did learn a lot about vintage cards though. Overall it was a good read and would read it again in a few years.

i know this is a little late, but i read it and really enjoyed it. it really covers EVERYTHING from the first card on up to Upper Deck in the 90's and early 21st century. its a bit depressing cause the author really points out all of the flaws in the modern day hobby, but its definitely a worthwhile read for anyone into cards
