My feedback on eBay and sports card forum is good so f you need a reference check other of those

Hey, I have some nice cards in the $500 range. Oh, wait, nevermind, I would rather not take a huge hit when I could list them on eBay myself in less than 5 minutes.

I will never understand the people who are willing to sell for 25-30% below eBay when they still have to do virtually the same amount of work. I'm sure you wouldn't buy without a pic and even the laziest person can list on eBay using their phone in 20 seconds if they don't describe the card.

I am also pretty sure that you will be paying with paypal and not using gift for an amount such as $500 so they wouldn't be skirting the IRS.

I am just trying to find a reason why?!

I got the same kind of crap. No one waste your time with this guy, he's not looking to buy, he's looking to steal. What a joke. I offered him eBay value of $140 worth of cards for $115, and he replies back that he'd have to get them for $85.

this happens every single day of the week. some of the most successful ebayers have this in their business model. I've used consignments since my schedule doesnt allow me to get things out timely. If you dont like the deal, walk away. Guys like this are looking for profit and thats there motivation. That isnt a knock.

move on with your life.

As for this comment......would you buy a lot at that price if your motivation is to RESELL it?

how much would you make on that, 5 dollars?

I understand about consignment sales but this is different. If you are going to sell a couple big cards to him and have to ship them, WHY NOT GET FULL EBAY VALUE ON FREAKIN EBAY? Still have to ship them either way... so I guess if you hate money then here you go.

If you sell on ebay, I would assume he isnt talking to you. Seems like he's looking for people who want to sell him stuff and NOT do it themselves on ebay and are fine with the discount. Clearly, you dont want to do this but i'm 100% sure someone will take his 500 dollars and spare themselves the work you are willing to do and for that, they will take a discounted price.

NO ONE on this site is going to be interested in selling him $900 worth of cards for $500 just to avoid eBay. We have too many boomo-types here that can help people avoid eBay and cut a better deal AND have a reputation here. I understand his motive is profit, but a byproduct of that is that he's going to insult people who aren't lazy morons, because that's his target customer, and FCB just doesn't have many of them. This schtick would go over better on Beckett

There is a difference between asking for a discount in order to turn a profit and making an idiotic offer.

Just curious, if you were to move him 500 ebay value for the 375 dollars, what are you thinking he will make after supplies, shipping and paypal/ebay fees?

He can reuse the supplies you send. I know plenty of ppl that reuse envelopes and my bubble mailers were only $.08 ea anyway.

Shipping is $5 with sig conf. $15 would be extreme.

Fees are like $50.

I'd say he makes $60 minimum. No way it takes more than 10 minutes worth of work total including making this post so that is about $360/hour.

If a $500 BIN is hit the seller will incur the following:

$.50 -insertion fee
$32.80- final value fee
$14.95- paypal fee
________________
$48.25- in total fees

That $500 turned into $456.75.

$456.75-$375.00=$81.75 profit

And who on this site would be willing to just give away $81.75 just to avoid listing 1 card on eBay? That is my point. That it won't work here. I get these kind of offers every time I try to sell on SCF, where he says he's active. If you have a card that sells for $100 on eBay, list it on SCF for a more than fair price of $85, and it rarely fails that you'll have someone like this guy offer you $50.

People who collect because they love the hobby will always be offended by people like this who waste their time with garbage offers because their sole intent is to make money. Low-balling people isn't how you should do it. Want to make money and not piss people off? Do like other people here, myself included, and buy prospects and guys that aren't selling well and flip them a month or 6 months or a year later when they're hot. Don't try to make money by knowingly making BS offers.

But I do accept partial responsibility because at least he said up-front what he was trying to do, but in my book, that doesn't excuse it entirely

Not that it will be a huge number but you may want to put some shipping costs in there...

You also may want to remember buying 500 in ebay value doesnt always mean you'll get 500 in ending prices. He's making the effort and taking the risk.

Either way, he's turning less that a 20% profit and its up to you as the seller if you're ok with that.
