Have you ever sold a hot card for a great price but still regret it?

I just sold my 2012 Topps Heritage Bryce Harper card for what I consider to be a great price but I kind of wish I hadn't. I'll probably try and buy one back this winter, hopefully I can get one for under $100. I still can't believe what these are fetching now days. It's not a first year and it's not an Autograph and it's pushing two bills? Does that little RC logo carry that much weight? Anyways if anyone wants to share stories about cards you sold and regreted it would make me feel better. Especially if you were able to pick it back up years later.

I know I've shared this on FCB a couple times before but here's another relevant topic....I bought this orange, a gold, and three blues of Boesch the offseason before he debuted in the Majors for a total of about $60. I was virtually the only person buying him that offseason, but there simply weren't many copies of his cards available, unfortunately, so those five were the only ones I ended up with. I sold them for roughly $200 early that season...a very nice ROI. Then (against all odds) he kept hitting well, and the Orange and Gold both peaked over $500 apiece about a month later, with Blues in the $200 range. I made $140 profit on a $60 buy (great by usual standards), but could have sold them for about $1500 had I waited a month to sell them. I would have done it the same if the situation happened again, but damn, that one stung.

Last summer I sold a Dylan Bundy chrome auto for $85 which paid for my box and then some, so I really can't complain. But I still wish I had held it since I really didn't need the money at the time.

#2- I pulled an Eric Hosmer chrome auto redemption from a blaster November before last. Needed that cash and saw they were selling for $100+ so I dumped it in less than a week for $140. Couple months later they were going for upwards of $700 in some instances...

When 2012 Bowman came out, I pulled a Chrome Blue Auto Mason Williams, and ended up selling it for $35. Last few have sold at $100. In my defense, they were selling in the $30-$40 range at the time, but this is why I'm not a prospector.

2001 donruss signature chan go park auto bought a pack and pulled it. Payed 60 for the pack. Sold the park for 480 even made Beckett with the sale. Still miss the awesome sig on the card.

Matt Harvey 2010 Bowman Chrome DP Orange Ref Auto. Paid $240 raw late last year, graded a BGS 9.5. Sold in March for $450. Great ROI. A copy recently sold for $800+. At the rate he's pitching, I have no chance of buying one back at any decent price. Didn't see that coming...

I can completely relate to your sale. I would think that your sale was/is pretty good for a chan ho park auto but in a way you wish you still had the card because you liked it. The other time I felt this way was with the 1984 fleer update set. I remember in the early 90's i sold my set for $550 which was a price I just couldn't say no to but I always wanted that set and in the early 2000's I bought it back for around $200 bucks. Hopefully I can do the same here but who knows.

I bought a Heyward Orange refractor auto from 08 BC for $450 right after the release. Sold it for $650 about a week before spring training, shortly before he hit a HR on Opening Day and it was a $2000 card. Woops.

I mostly kick myself for not selling when the iron is hot.

When I sell and the thing goes on to make more...I remind myself that I will never go broke selling at a profit. My worst (I think) is selling two Addison Russell USA Bowman Ref autos for $20/each a week after the draft, some Almora base Bowman USA autos for around $15 each before the draft and 4 Profars, 2 Elite autos for $40 each and two Bowman Autos for $75-80 each. Oh and a Mike Trout 2010 Platinum auto for $40. But in each of these cases, I about doubled my money, so I'm happy.

Think of all the cards you sold at exactly the right time that are now quite worthless.

Heritage is for set collectors; they don't care that the card is of Bryce Harper, they care that it's limited and, without it, they won't have a complete set. A lot of limited Heritages SSPs from years back still sell for hefty sum.

I sold a 2012 Topps Classic Walk-Offs Relic Mickey Mantle. I got around $100 out of it. Man, do I ever miss it. It's the closest to a top shelf card that I've ever owned. I got it in a $2 retail pack. The cash was great, but the card would be the centerpiece right now.

Pulled and sold the Harper paper auto for $750 at release. I was thrilled w the sale but I'm bummed I never picked another one up.
