I am heading out to a "HOF" induction dinner tonight, where I hope to see one of my favorite players, Mike Kingery.

I've only met him twice before. Once at TwinsFest about 10 years ago, and another time at a baseball game that he was coaching.

With Perkins, I see him a few times a year. I'll be seeing him on Monday, and next Saturday.

Anyway, have you ever met your favorite players?

Met Rickey and spent considerable time with him. Very polite and cordial to my parents. Kent also had a good time with him, but Neil didn't get the opportunity.

This notice is required by law.

I have a minor league baseball nearby and I get to meet new players each year . My favorites are the ones that take a moment with the young kids .

Like I said, I went out to see Kingery tonight.

After the program, I brought him my gamer-bat. I asked him "Can you sign your bat for me?" and he said, "My bat?"

He took it in his hands, swung it a few times, and asked me where I bought it, and how much I paid. Then he said "Yup, this one was mine."

Anyway, he signed it for me beautifully.

Met Garvey once, at 2001 Fan fest. Sadly, my crap was in storage at the time and the best I could come up with on short notice was a poor quality color copy of the 1974 Dodgers Yearbook cover that I had as my screen saver (which is an awesome photo, by the way). i asked him about his ring, which I now can't remember what it was other than it was from 74. The missed meeting that was supposed to be from 1980 is a story I tell from time to time as well.

Yes. Cantu played two seasons for my hometown team of Mexican Winter Baseball and met him a couple of times. He gave me a game used bat of him :D

Never and when I do, I'll be nervous as hell (like when I met Ric Flair in '09 at Nationals).
