So about a week ago i got into a major car accident..
i was parked at a stop sign and i was going to make a left turn across traffic.. i saw cars coming from the right a ways up and i thought to myself im going to try and make before they get to close.. i looked to the left and there was a big F-350 with his turn signal on turning into the parking lot i was coming out of.. well i thought heres my chance, so i went well didn't see there was a 1999 cadillac devile behind the truck so i got t-boned on my drivers side.. luckily there were no passengers in the car.. the guy that hit me was going 60 in a 35 mph zone.. he was ok.. me not so much.. i hot my head on the steering wheel and got knocked out for about 10 minutes.. i broke my nose.. left arm.. and left leg. i just got home from the hospital and i have to stop collecting cards.. also my car is totaled so i have no transportation as of right now. also no insurance doesnt help either.. basically im screwed by a long shot.. just wanted everyone to know my experience. anyone else have something similar happen to them?

Sorry to hear that bud. Wrecks are bad. I haven't ever been in that situation but I will share this little story with you. The fire station I used to work at got called out mutual aid to assist another department with a house fire. I responded in my truck to the station to pick up one of the engines. The first arriving department called for an engine and our equipment truck. We had a couple guys already in the engine so my partner and I took the equipment truck. While on the way to the call, the first arriving department radioed that they had everything under control and that we could cancel our response.

Well, as we turned off our lights and sirens I smelled smoke. We had just passed a house where the resident was burning leaves in his front ditch. I didn't think too much about it until the smoke got really bad. Well, you guessed it, we had a fire. IN OUR TRUCK! The wiring on the inside of the truck in the walk around portion had shorted out and started a fire. It was humiliating to park the truck in an open field and call for help over the radio to our engine that was still out to help put out the fire. There wasnt much damage but it still got a chuckle by many of the guys.

Where do you live? Here in NC, we can't drive unless we have auto insurance.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I hope you feel better.

I was in an accident a few years ago when I got back from my 1st deployment overseas. I was home on leave and I went out drinking with my buddies at a local sports bar, and ended up drinking too much. At the end of the night my friends girlfriend refused to let me drive, but yelling at her and acting like a ****** finally pissed her off and she gave up.

I don't remember what exactly happened but I remember opening my eyes to a windshield smashed in and broken glass everywhere and I had to climb out the window. I was in the opposite lane of traffic facing the wrong direction.

My friend was in a car behind me and saw the whole thing, and made a u turn to see if I was alright.
He said I drove over the median and rolled 3 times, eventually landing back on my 4 tires. I was lucky I didn't injure or kill another person, or injure/kill myself. Besides totaling a $45k SUV, I risked a DUI and a military NJP.

I never take ANY chances when it comes to the road. I won't speed, I won't try to beat a red light, I won't try to make a daring turn, and I will not get in a vehicle if someone has had 1 drop of alcohol touch their lips.

I got hit by a Saturn Vue SUV about 2 years ago. Luckily it hit more of the front of the car and not where my door was. Oddly enough, even though it hit on my side, I was fine, but my passenger ended up with 2 broken ribs and a sprained ankle. I also only had liability and the car was totaled... luckily my work provided me a vehicle for a bit.
