Yep, I would take Dotel & a committee of Randy Choate, Edward Mujica, and Jose Ceda over 3 years at 27 million plus a vestiing option for 4th year for a closer who is 34. He got 43 saves with Padres and they still finished 71-91. Marlins finished 72-90 and could have use that money elsewhere.

Wow, Bell is the only closer to save over 40 games in the last three seasons and two of those three years the Padres weren't contenders. I'd over pay to solidify my bull-pen, with an elite closer, I mean the guys saved over half of the teams wins. Remember, teams win in the post season with their bull-pens', just ask the 2010 Giants.

If anyone watched several of the Marlins games last year (which, by the responses, I'm guessing nobody did) their bullpen was awful. If you're gonna spend money, spend it on someone who'll actually keep a 4-2 lead in the 9th, instead of giving up 3 run homer after 3 run homer.

I'm stoked about this move :D

For entertainment purposes, how is Mujica bad:

Edward Mujica: 76 IP 2.96ERA 63:14 K:BB

Health Bell: 62.2 I P 2.44ERA 51:21 K:BB

Mujica is bad, he loves the longball.

Bullpen is a good place to spend money.

Everyone needs to remember, these are not your teal Florida Marlins. This is a new team with a new income level and a new stadium.

I like the signing, and i think it portends other signings to come.

I don't mind Mujica as a 1 inning guy, but not as a closer. And just as long as I never see Ryan Webb throw another pitch for the Fish, although he seemed to improve in the second half of the year, as he got more opportunities.
