I picked this card up recently but I'm not too sure what it is. My guess is the 1994 Archives auto but I can't find any proof of that. The back says it's an Archives card. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Archives usually have an AUTO stamp on the front - this looks like a signed base card.

The base card has a facsimile auto on it, so I don't think it's a base card. I swear I've seen another card like this too but I can't remember...

It is the 1994 Topps Archives and that is the Topps Certified auto card. Although they didn't put any stickers or stamps on the auto versions, the base (non-auto) cards are quite different.

The base is more yellow in the background and has a printed auto. Also as mentioned his name, position and team on the auto version is gold foil. I don't have my copy scanned, but here's a base version from ebay:

... go figure ... learned something new ...

At a show I would have passed over it assuming it was a base card.
Thanks

Jeff D is correct. I have 2 of them and as long as it has the Gold letting on top then you know its authentic, all the base cards do not have that Gold lettering.

Jeff D, you've been thanked!

You're welcome. I think they're really nice looking cards and a little undervalued. Some of the sigs are faded (occasionally to the point of looking brown), but they are still nice on-card autos and early examples of certified autos.
