Without looking it up, how many straight games did Cal Ripken, Jr play?

Records lose their UMPH until someone starts approaching them again. If A-Rod starts approaching Bonds' numbers then everyone will know the correct answer. Aaron's record was a different situation and somewhat without comparison.

I could have sworn it was local.I think it was 790 the sports animal but I have a hard time remembering because I flip between that, 740, 610, and 97.5 the ticket.I am pretty certain it was 790 though.

In any case I looked up the answer and I was wrong.I guess the OP and the radio station had a point.Unless it matters to you...its kinda hard to remember.Hell...on a given day I don't even remember how many homers Bagwell had and that's saying something seeing as how I have 2300+ different cards of his.But I grew up knowing things like Aaron's 755 or Nolan's 7 no hitters or Babe Ruth hitting 714 homers.Things like that were commonly talked about it seemed and it felt like everyone knew the trivia questions. Now I think baseball fans a s a whole don't know what the heck to think about any of the crap going on.

I still say that if I did this in the same format most of the people on these boards wouldn't know the exact number. Of course some of us know it but the majority of the boards would be close but wrong (just like Bonds' numbers).
