T.J. Houshmandzadeh

Good move by the Seahawks gettinga quality receiver, something they've lacked for a while.

*I was running the thread with all free agency news, but it fell back on the boards. If you miss it, bump it up, and I'll update it. But if it seems like nobody is keeping it active, I won't update.

If I have Branch, Burleson, & that other dude, no way am I wasting money on an overrated, 32 year old WR. But, the Broncos tried to trade Cutler, so what do I know.

Bobby Engram? Lol. He's a free agent right now, as well as Koren Robinson. Not a single one of those guys played the full season in 08. The Seahawks need depth and talent. You really want to say the Seahawks are fine at WR?

Housh almost outperformed the Seahawks trio by himself, and that was with backup Ryan Fitzpatrick for I think 13 games of the season.

Branch + Burleson + Engam = 971 receiving yards, 5 TDs (in 2008)
Housh by himself = 904 receiving yards, 4 TDs (in 2008)

The only time from 2004-2008 one of those Seahawks put up 1,000+ yards was Bobby Engram in 2007. Unless you want to count Burleson in '04 with the Vikings.

2007 - Bobby Engram has 1,147 yards and 6 TDs. Housh puts up 1,143 yards and 5 TDs.
2006 - Housh puts up 1,081 yards. Branch has 725, Branch has 192, Engram has 290.

Yeah, cuz if you are going to look at the talent of those guys, it's best to do that from a season where they all had injuries that kept them out a ton (Branch missed what half a season and i'm sure he was playing 100% when he was) and Burleson had one good game before getting injured for the season.

Not to mention their qb was Seneca Wallace. You could have put anyone in there and they weren't going to do anything.

I would take Burleson over Housh straight up (Putting both in the same situation and healthy an entire season). The talent is there.

I go by talent I see, I don't care what you put up for stats. Housh is greatly overrated in the NFL. Must be nice to never have to draw double coverage.

I understand you can view the situation differently, but I have no question about how I break down talent in the NFL.

They do need some stabilty at WR, so it could be a good fit if they just get him to stay healthy. I'm just saying if Burleson and Branch are healthy an entire season, I don't waste the money on Housh. The signing could also free them up to draft a good running back too, so there is that.

I personally feel he's not overrated and the fact that none of our other WR can seem to STAY healthy for a full season it is nice to get someone who hopefully can! He's obviously not the GREATEST WR, but someone who can get some depth and if he doesn't draw the double coverage then even better! At least we didn't get Ocho-Stinko! Now if we could only part w/ Charlie Frye......

I judged them over the past 4 seasons, not just 08 when they were injured. Since '04 there have only been two 1,000+ yard seasons from all three players combined.

Really, I shouldn't have even looked at Engram since he hasn't resigned (to my knowledge). All the Seahawks have are Burleson and Branch (and now Housh of course), and then the non namers on the bench.

Burleson has no real consistency. He can be good, but he can also be below average. No way he's a #1 guy.

Deion Branch isn't really somebody I view as the #1 guy. Not to mention his playtime, health, and performance has declined over the past few seasons.

Housh can be a #1 guy. His #2 numbers are just as good as some team-leading receivers. Not to mention he may draw a double team, which will open things up for Branch and Burleson.

I also wonder if the Seahawks got Housh because they aren't going to go after Crabtree in the draft now.

Housh is probably better than Chad game in and game out. He is much more consistant and the Bengals have had some big gas the past couple of years. No real number 3 because Chris Henry is a ******* and doesn't fight for the ball. No real running game the last 2 years because Rudi got old and Chris Perry sucks :( The o-line has gotten worse over the years. Carson didn't play much at all last year so he had Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing to him. When teams were playing the Bengals, it was safe to assume pass since we couldn't establish a running game.
