(I hope talking about HS basketball isn't frowned upon here, this can be locked/deleted if it is).
For some reason, the high school here has talent, and in most cases coaching, but can still never lock down anything with state. Today the boy's basketball team got farther than they have since I can remember. They are coming off a spectacular buzzer beating win at sub sections. Today is the last game before state.
Normally, unless it is baseball, or hockey, I usually root against our school. Boys basketball has been at the top of that list. Normally they are a very cocky, whiny bunch. Especially in my first year in high school, we had one of the best players in the state. He was getting 40+ points per game, and ended up BLOWING that season for his team, in the final game, which I was at.
This year, since most of the squad are baseball players, and some are good friends, I decided to hop on the bandwagon and give them the root this year. They still rely on 1-2 players to carry them instead of the whole team, but the passing game seems to be better, and they are relying on shooting 2's instead of hogging the 3s. Even though they are still relying on 1-2 guys, they are still moving the bench through really well.
They are playing tonight at SMSU college. I won't be attending for other reasons, but I will probably be at Target Center if they go to state.
EDIT:
Just hit 3rd OT. Insane... I am going to have a heart attack... Like I said Sub Sections was a buzzer beater, and it is getting CRAZY...
