Travis Wood
Thoughts on either....Both are having phenominal seasons and are still young......which will reach the majors first and who has a higher ceiling?

Travis is definitely set out to put his school on the map like Cliff Lee has done for ours. He has a drive to succeed and should prove to be a solid pitcher at the big league level. Now, with that said, since I am here in AR, I have had a chance to see Bell pitch several times here for the Travelers. Bell has tremendous poise and mound presence. I wasn't overwhelmed with the stuff but he definitely knows how to pitch.
I (bias set aside) give Travis the edge based on pure stuff. He has a mid 90's arm from the left side and his cousin has told me all about the new cutter that he is throwing now and it is a plus-plus pitch (per baseball america) to go along with his jelly-leg change-piece and average breaking stuff.

I agree, even though Wood is slightly built (165 vs 180 for Bell) he does have better stuff. I was comparing their stats from this year and they are REALLY close....Wood gets the edge based on ERA and wins.....however Bell, in only 7 2/3 fewer innings, has allowed 13 fewer walks and less than a 1.00 WHIP. Also, Bell has 16 innings under his belt in AAA ball all of Wood's stats are from AA....who knows if Wood would have difficulty adjusting.
Any additional thoughts?

PS: Don't get me wrong. Bell has been very impressive this year.
