With Stras selling in the $25 range, it got me thinking about what other basic BC cards have sold so high at release (No shortprints like 2001/2002 BC).

I dont remember the numbers, but these guys come to mind, can anyone add?

Travis Lee
Jose Cruz
Corey Patterson
Sean Burroughs
Josh Hamilton
Jason Stokes

Jason Hart 2000 Bowman Chrome was in the $25 range.

Hank Blalock had just hit two cycles in a row less than week before the release of 2001 Bowman Chrome and I think he was hitting .420 plus upon release and that card was tough to pick up cheaply.

I remember the A. Gordon's going for $20+ a pop on Ebay when it came out back in '06. I scooped up 2 dozen of them a couple months after release on thepit.com for around $11 each, thinking they were a steal  . They actually went up to about $15 per on thepit in '07 when he first debuted...I should have sold them off....all downhill from there. Instead I held on too long and finally dumped them last fall for about 10% of what I paid before commission. :( Lesson learned.

I don't know the market rate for Travis Lee back in '97, but I remember my card shop offering $10 if I pulled one out of packs when the product came out. Man, I bought at least 50 packs at $3 a pop of 1997 Bowman Chrome. I never pulled the base Chrome, but instead I pulled an International Refractor of Lee, and the card shop owner offered $100 on the spot. I, being the young naive kid I was back then, of course said no, and proclaimed, "This guy will be the next Junior and it will be worth $500 in a few years!" Of course, as it turned out, Travis Lee went on to have an unremarkable career, and I wound up selling the card in 2003 for about $18 on Ebay... ::facepalm:: :benson:

I remember pulling the Cruz Jr. Bowman and being offered $10 on the spot. Basically my same reaction :benson:

On the other hand, when Elite '99 Football came out, I pulled (outta just one pack being purchased of the product) Tim Couch, which I promptly sold for $40 on the spot :P
