I believe that in five years exclamation marks will be outlawed and a limit will be placed on ellipsis to make it just a period.

IMO if I was betting - I think it will be parallels that bomb and not autographs.

Maybe not the heavy collected parallel sets, but there are SO many now a days with many simply being a different color foil or something ridiculous. And sure you can say the card is #'d to 50 or whatever so it's "rare", but between all the parallels that same player may have 1,000 different auto's in the set and I can't help but think 20 years from now people may just feel an auto is an auto and the market is going to be a bit over-saturated with the stuff.

+1 to this.

Nothing is more bothering to me than having to find 10 of the exact same card other than border color. I miss the early/mid 90s when a player had 30 different cards in a set and they all looked different.

why would anyone buy high end topps products when their best stuff cost 3-5 dollars a pack? I mean, I can't
cure stupidness too!
Huh?

You can't even defend their top of the line stuff!!!!

What is to defend, their high end stuff sucks, but if you can buy solid products for 65/box, why would you spend
200 a pack?

I don't care who signed it, if it's a sticker auto, it's not staying in my collection.

If these Sage cards were the first sticker autos, im curious to know what was the first "mainstream" set that went to using Sticker autos? Like a set from UD, Topps, Fleer, Pacific, Donruss Etc.?

Why does it matter if it's sticker or on card? The guy signed it either way. (Well, I guess we can't be sure when it's an UD product.)
People get all excited about a cut auto from a guy who's still alive yet a sticker auto is one of the worst things to ever come along according to some.

Here's a simple concept, if you don't like sticker autographs, then don't spend the money on the product. ::facepalm::

The players I collect only get put into high-end retired/HOF products.

And if Topps keeps screwing with stickers in high end, no one is going to open that product.
There are maybe 50-60 Frank cards in Sterling. I've seen maybe 5-10 on ebay.

I'm more concerned with the autos fading over time on stickers and chromes. Using the old fashioned card stock helps soak up the ink, and keeps the auto longer.

I guess time will tell if the sticker autos cause autograph deterioration. But you can't discount the auto'd rookie cards of the 2000s. Everyone from Pujols to Stanton has rookie year sticker autos and they still sell for a ton.

I haven't seen a whole lot to be concerned over fading on sticker autos, of course there are those sweet spot
autos that UD made a few years back that are just a waste. The problem I see is that UD DID NOT witness
these autographs, they send a sheet of stickers and never see who actually signs them.

I do see a day where on card autographs will get a very big premium over their sticker cousins Pujols and Stanton;s
best cards are topps cards and they are on card.

I agree Kevin. There will ALWAYS be a premium for Pujols, Stanton, Heyward Bowman Chrome auto'd rookies. After all, they are the preferred rookie card. But as these particular cards and their parallels become too much for the "average collector", they have no choice but to get the Donruss/Panini autos.

And speaking of those ugly UD Sweet Spot autos, Topps has made some questionable autographed cards like the 2001 Topps Finest autos which included a Pujols rookie year insert auto. I've seen some where the ink is almost non-existent.

you guys had to go back almost 10 years to find fading topps autographs? All the companies made mistakes, topps
made the adjustments, personally I have never seen that finest auto, its ugly!

Ditto to what he said.
Does anybody else besides me wonder how many "sticker versus oncard" threads there's been over the years.
I think every aspect of the conversation has been covered numerous times.
Me, I prefer on-card sigs but I also appreciate having the option of picking up an auto for less money even though it is a sticker auto.
The thing I think is hilarious is how some of you take it so personal when it comes to defending your favorite card company.
You'd think someone just called your mom a **** or something.
You give the rest of us card collecting geeks a bad name.
