the Predators announced today that they have signed goaltender Pekka Rinne to a 7 year $49 million contract extension

Rinne will be the highest paid goalie in the NHL next season.

what does this do to the Preds chances of signing free agent to be Shea Weber?

I think they will sign Suter, but Weber is another story.

I never dreamed they would give Rinne that type of deal. He certainly is a special player.

Maybe the tight ****** attitude about salaries that ownership had displayed in the past is history.

Think about it....they trade a center just days away from the rumored return of Sid, he has to be coming back on Friday!!! They probably traded Letestu because they knew he wouldn't pass through waivers unclaimed, so they may as well get something for him.

Well then, maybe I am looking into it too much then.

I don't know. I still think he will be back after Thanksgiving but these moves are making me think I am wrong. Crosby and Kennedy could return on Friday.

I'm going to Tuesday's game so I hope Sid returns then.

practice started at 11 and will wrap up soon.

EDIT: Darren Dreger just tweeted "word is Crosby won't play Friday or Saturday". now all the Canadian media has to go home or stay until Tuesday :mrgreen:

So, what is the FCB consensus on Lucic's hit on Miller in last night's Bruins/Sabres game. I understand goalies aren't fair game out of the crease. IMO, however, if you are going to come out to the circle center, you better be ready for anything. This goes for Thomas and Rask, as well...not being a homer here.

I don't have a problem with the hit on Miller. if he is going to be out there he has to expect to get hit.
