Got these last night on the Huggins and Scott auction. Since neither of them have a lot of autos out there, do you think I did ok on price? I thought I might have overpaid a little. I am still pretty happy about these pickups.

Clark Griffith - Paid $323.12 w/ buyer's premium

Chuck Klein - Paid $528.75 w/ buyer's premium (2nd most I've ever paid for an auto - Ty Cobb)

Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Maine of course......
Great pick ups Mike!! IMO (for what little that is worth ;)) you might have paid a bit more for the Griffith than I would have expected and about right for the Klein. Klein is not seen as often as I would expect so that is a fair price for a PSA slabbed auto. I actually have a Klein- "C Klein" that I will be submitting to PSA in the coming weeks. I have assurances from the seller that it will pass PSA and they are a reputable seller.

I just researched that I paid $216 for my Griffith and got it slabbed by PSA for $25 but that was in 2009.

Clearly you can't go wrong buying them PSA slabbed!!

Congrats again, what are you up to now?

Thanks Maine!! This will put me at 155 different. I knew I paid a little more for the Griffith, but since the auto was graded a 10, I doubt there are that many of those around.

I was surprised how few Klein's there are on the market.

I also picked this lot up...

I really like picking up lots even though I already have all of the players. The Mantle is sweet.

I don't keep a record of what I've paid for my autos, but I remember that I paid slightly more than that for my Klein and less than that for my Griffith (unslabbed on eBay, since slabbed). One really cannot find bargains in a Huggins and Scott auction. I agree with Scott that you may have overpaid just a bit on Griffith, but that is a high quality auto to add to your collection, so have no regrets. The Klein is a toughie, so well done there as well.

Keep buying and showing them off! I'm itching to buy something, but I can't afford any players that I don't have yet! Speaking of that, did you see the end price on the Jimmy Collins auto? Damn!

I can see that, but I'm always on the hunt for a player I don't have yet, so I gotta save up! I've been tempted to pick up a lot like that one many times, but I have to dream of Joe Kelley or Wilbert Robinson or Martin Dihigo...

Agreed on the Kleins. Took me a while to get mine.

I like the lot a lot ;)- I need a signed Ted HOF induction card.

Great pickups, yes they were a little over priced but for tough auto's like those you really can't take any chances

A little suggested reading for any of you HOF autograph collectors. Check out Ron Keurajian's Baseball Hall Of Fame Autographs. It is a fantastic read that includes tons of signature examples and gives you things to look for when picking up signatures that are subject to fraud.

I was wondering when you would chime in here.

Is the book really good? The best price I can find is $50. I am looking to buy it.
To it was easily worth the price. With the big guys making more and more mistakes authenticating you have to arm yourself with all the resources you can. Don't take a third partys word that the item is good. Do your research. I have compiled thousands of authentic examples to use as reference material. I received threats of ligation from one major manufacturer for pointing out that the Ruth cut they slapped on a card was a fake. In they end the replaced the cut because I was right. I guess to sum it up research each purchase thoroughly. Keep posting the killer pick ups.

What do you think about the two I just bought? Legit or not? Forget that they are PSA/DNA.
