This looks to be the highest item at this time, his 1949 American League Most Valuable Player Award plaque at $146,410.00

.....which clearly is not happening......

Take a very, very good look at these, because the next time we see it, it's all going to cut into tiny little pieces embedded in cardboard. :(

The only thing bad about this was I told one of my employees that Ted Williams stuff was being auctioned and he said "Who is Ted Williams?"

I live in Massachusetts, he's a 22 year old male. How the f does that happen?!?!

Just make sure he doesn't wear his pink Red Sox cap to work.

Oh, that's just another sign of bad parenting nowadays ... :)

Yup, emailed them about coming on one of the preview days before the auction.

Just left the auction. 8 hours waiting for the baseball cards loll. But I had a great time. The auction was inside Fenway in the Pavilion club. They allowed people outside to walk around and take pictures which was nice. Some stuff was HUGE and way surpassed the estimated price and there were some greats deals. For instance, every signed bat was right around $1,000 yet there were lots with 10 bats could be had for thousands less. I tried for the 99 Upper Deck Piece of History auto/bat 1/9 but got outbid at $4500. It sold for $5500 which would still be a steal until you consider the fact that you pay a 15% premium and because the auction is in Mass, you pay 8% sales tax, making the card almost $7,000.

Teds daughter was there and spoke before the bidding started which was cool. I did make one purchase http://www.huntauctions.com/live/imageviewer.cfm?auction_num=36&lot_num=568&lot_qual=

Overspend? Lmk what you guys think. Anyone else go or bid on anything?

Well done and congrats!! You won a whole series of cards personally owned by Ted, himself- that is just cool :D:o:D. I am sure all the provenance on the JSA certification indicates his/his family ownership PLUS the details from the auction certainly do. I've got to go look and see if there were any "deals." I just did not have the time to track all the lots, which in hindsight I should have done ::facepalm::

Most of those cards I am pretty sure came out after Ted died.
