Are a majority of the members on Blowout Forums kids? New to the hobby? Mentally challenged? All of the above.

I know there are some members here that are also members there, but the names I recognize from here are'nt making these idiotic posts.

Won't post a link, but there is a thread discussing an eBay auction for this card.

2013 Topps Bryce Harper Reverse 34 Base 1 1 1 Error Non Auto Rookie Cup | eBay

Now, any critically thinking, right minded person would look at the auction, use their brain for about 2.3 seconds and come to the conclusion that some eBay ****** scanned a Harper base card and they printed it on some acetate using his home printer and is trying to pull off some scam. Obvious right.

But the members there are all "Is it real??" or "Do you think he may have made it himself?" or "I'm stumped"

Then there is the downright ridiculousness of members thinking, "Hey cool card - nice pull" "That could be a 1/1!"

What.The.Actual.****. USE YOUR BRAIN!!!!

Haven't been there for years. Got burned out by so many "I want to trade by book value and give you my beat up vintage for hot cards on ebay" trolls. Place was worthless for a long time IMO.

My best advice is that if they stress you out so much, don't visit the site.
Simple.

I have thought about joining that site if only because some members there might have some hard to find cards I am looking for.

However, when I think to myself that I'd have to go through the process of establishing credibility by posting and interacting with the folks over their, I just think that would be too much work. I've had 99% positive experiences with folks here in terms of trades and no one here has been outright rude or childish to me. I have no real desire to start the process of establishing my credibility, especially with what I read on that forum.

I think we have far less day to day traffic here, but the content is normally at a pretty high level in terms of politeness and substance. The threads over there...yeah, they seem like people that haven't done the internet before, if that makes any sense.

Back like 2 years ago my brother tried to get some deals done on BO. I cant tell you the amount if PM's he got saying things like "Your card sells on ebay for $100 I will save you on fees and give you $75".

Its a sharp bunch for sure.

Never understood that saving fees logic. If I get $75 after fees on eBay or sell the card directly to buyer for $75, where is the savings I am getting?

In my brothers case they wanted pretty much 15% more than ebays fees. So yeah you save in ebays fees and lose in BO fees which apparently are 25% . He said he felt like he was dealing with all 14 year olds trying to run scams. It was nothing but begging for free cards, send payment as a gift and so on.

I'm active there and it's not too bad. Like any forum, it has good members and bad ones. I used to only go there if I needed to sell something because its so busy and I've had good luck selling there, but there are a TON of people there that want to lowball on everything. I've put up a few lots with a legit eBay value of around $45 asking $35 and every time i get the same idiot that'll PM me an offer of $25. The discussion board there has gotten better in the past few months but still has its share of children, adults that act worse than children, and a higher-than-normal percentage of criminal apologists

I read the baseball forum over there fairly often and I don't think it's mostly kids. I do think there is a high percentage of people who are out to make a buck and aren't actually collectors, so there is less of a general knowledge or appreciation for card history. Plus the "board culture" over there is very combative. Once a board goes down that road it's hard to turn it around without extreme mod intervention that alienates a lot of people. Plus it's easy to get sucked into it even if that isn't how you act offline.

I don't see much difference between this forum and the BO one and I have been lurking on both for years.

The savings fees logic can work. Say my item sells on ebay for $100. After ebay fees of 12%, i get back 88. If I get someone who will pay $90-$95 paypal, it works for both of us. Buyer saves $10, I save $2-$7.

But when someone offers you ebay price -15% and says "i'll save you the fees", it isn't necessarily worth it unless you are really looking to move the item right away. Even worse when they take 25% off your price and claim to be saving you fees

Blowout is like "the club" of the card world: Some sexy/flashy stuff rolls through for sure, but you're not gonna find a whole lot in the way of intellectual substance, if you follow me.

I very much agree on the idiotic posts but its a great place to get deals done. Sure you come across some j@ck@sses but i am sure that would happen everywhere else.

This place is the shiznit but for buying and selling it is rough. Most members i have attempted to buy from wanted up to 2X market value. To me this is the only thing BO is good for. Pretty rough to weed through all that garbage in the diss. forum.
