Heritage High Variations are selling very well. The big rookies are selling for almost twice what they were at release (photo variations and color swaps, anyway).

Forgive my ignorance here, as I have seen several mentions of hot lists from this site in the past that people loved so much. Much like the ones Beckett had I suppose but I never got the point. What do people do with these lists? Is it just a point to start conversations? Is it an "insider" guide to getting the next deals? Is it a popularity vote?

I asked that same question many years ago because I didn’t see what all the fuss was about. Like Chris said…look at it as simply a snapshot of the hobby at this particular time (entertainment), and remember that:
Hot list=Time to Sell
Cold list=Time to (possibly) Buy

At the time I was curious because: Back when you could look up a person’s eBay bidding history, I noticed that folks throwing out a certain player’s name for the hot list were the same folks bidding up that player’s card auctions. Kinda silly until you realize that they were trying to jack up the prices so they could increase their own sales. There is such a “lemmings” mentality in this hobby that some folks see a player’s name on a “hot list” and think that they have to rush out and buy that player’s card(s) before it’s too late. The exact opposite is actually true: it’s a good time to SELL that player’s card (not buy it).

All that said, I enjoy reading the hot lists for their entertainment value. It’ll be nice to see them return.
My input: Starlin Castro’s prices got a nice bump about a month ago.

I expected to see a ton of rare Griffeys hit ebay when his induction was announced. The wave never came.

Griffey collectors aren't speculators. This proved that.

However there are some non-Griffey specific collectors out there who you woulda thought had some pieces they'd maybe bring out to capitalize on them. But maybe they weren't interested in moving either.

I just think that most of the nice Griffey cards are already in Griffey collections.

I'd agree to the majority , but not all. He's no different than any other player who's cards reside in non player collector collections. Wether that be set collectors, high end, or just cuz collectors. The catch 22 with a player like Griffey is he commands enough that some of those people would sell because they can get paid and the flip side they won't sell because they want a nice item in their collection. I wouldn't expect every Mirror Gold , Red Crusade etc. , but something.

Have Draymond Green prices jumped?

I could see JJ Watt getting some minor attention if he receives an award or two.
