So would buying Trout now be a bad time to buy since his prices are going to inflate if he makes the hot sheet?

I think the idea that a BA Hot Sheet appearance automatically inflates a player's prices is a highly overrated concept which simply isn't as true as it used to be. There are so many people trying their hand at prospecting right now that it's virtually impossible for guys to go completely unnoticed until they make a hot sheet, and although it can influence prices, it is far from a certainty.

To answer your question, I don't think prices will be influenced much since so many people are already all over Trout cards.

That said, I'm not sure I would be buying Trout right now anyway. Guy has shown zero power so far and the homerun is the greatest moneymaker in the prospecting business. Not that he won't be good or provide an opportunity for profitable card-flipping, but there's a reason why guys like Julio Borbon and Ben Revere, who are very talented but don't have power, never saw the price spikes that other players have seen.

And all THAT said, I'm in no hurry to move the ref auto I pulled of Mr. Trout 8-)

I'm sure the power will come once he stops getting acne. I mean c'mon, man. Maybe the Bowman card doesn't show it, but the guy's built like a brick shathouse and he's like 12.

If I were someone that liked projecting players, I would probably be paying attention to his plate discipline rather than his power.

He Ked 3 times in his last 41 at bats while drawing 5 walks and racking up EIGHTHEEN hits (.439)..what exactly are you talking about?

The power is not there yet like i thought it would be but Nate Tenbrink is making great contact batting .408 with 6BB/3K ratio and a .500 OBP. Another no sign of power guy though it will eventually come around is Matt Davidson, after going 3/5 last night his up to .339 for the year after a slow start and is 12 for his last 24. I think those are both in the team photo worthy but it wont happen.

I'm not exactly sure what your question is.

You seemed to be questioning his plate discipline, but he has shown that plate discipline is a minor issue, if any at all in recent times.

Another guy who seldom gets respect from BA is Jon Jay. I believe he's got a 12 or 13-game hitting streak still intact. He's batting over .350. However, BA will claim that because only 3 of his last 11 hits were XBH's that will be enough knock him off the Hot Sheet.

Nate Freiman made the Helium Watch last week, and has continued his torrid pace this week as well. Not sure if his age (23) will knock him out of the Team Photo, but he's one to watch.

Naw. What I said was what I meant. Rather than paying attention to Trout's power numbers out of the gate, you should be considering his age, body-type and plate discipline.

I've been pimping Trout pretty hard since the release of draft, and I didn't see a start this good coming at all.

But yah, as I said, for Trout, plate discipline > power, this year.

Oh, ok. My bad. I thought you meant pay attention to his PD because it sucks. I was like "What is this idiot thinking?"

My bad, man. Have any Trout you wanna sell me now? ;) :D

Can I get a Jon Gilmore!

I somehow missed seeing this until now. After seeing his stats, very good suggestion.

Not only is he 19 for his last 43, he's gotten 7 RBI is his last 6 games, with at least 1 per game.

Team Photo at least.

Matt Davidson and Buster Posey also have good cases to make it.
