eBay is HORRIBLE right now. I'm taking big hits on cards I should be making money on.

It is a buyers market.

I hear you. I am trying to save up to buy a couple things. I would also like to sell some stuff but I can afford to hold on for now.

Actually I have been doing pretty well lately. I've been flipping a lot of $0.99 buys for $5+ plus some other mid-range items for decent profits. There are some good and some bad but for the most part I've been making a decent profit margin.

Horrible for what, prospects?

Perhaps we're witnessing a permanent market correction here.

As a buyer here on FCB I dont think 10% off of ebay is unreasonable at all. If your buying alot of stuff 20% is reasonable. Personally I hate listing on ebay and if I am still making money on the card I will move it less then ebay all day long. Why not.

I have a bunch of auctions up right now and I'm very pleased by the results so far and still have a few hours left!

All of my auctions seem to be bringing 75% of ebay value. I guess I just have too many ebay members blocked or something, I don't know ::facepalm::

If I'm buying on FCB, I'll buy for 90% of eBay no problem, probably closer to 100%, since I generally know the guy seling it, and it's easy.

If I'm selling, I will happily take 90%.

The problem is though, when sellers want 120%, and buyers want 75%. I'm probably guilty of both at times, but that is when things start getting tough.

A limited release item I was selling ended about an hour ago. Two weeks ago the one of the exact same item sold for $90. This week I got $28 for that item and 2 other similar items in a lot. GRRRR!

I know the ending time may not have been perfect, and putting it in a lot maybe have hurt, but still $70 less??!!?? GRRRR!

And my card auctions have all been way down too. It's definitely a buyer's market right now.

As much as this is a problem, its not the most annoying thing I run into. My favorite is "I want to get out of it what I have in it"

Seriously? I should pay you a premium because a card you paid 100 for a card that now sells for 80...

unreal

On the same token, there are those times where I'm just trying to get what I have in it, which is less than most recent sales, and it's still considered too much.

Overall, sales haven't been as well for me as I expected they would.

On Ebay, I've been getting so many messages lately if I'd go lower than my BIN which already is lower than market price generally. It's very irritating, especially as most are asking for very big discounts. Then there's those messages asking me if I can trade...

For instance, just sold this: [ebay]http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150366014837&ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT[/ebay].

It's an Alvarez USA Auto Patch /99. I bought it when he was doing horribly, for $30. Now he is #1 on the Hot Sheet (when I listed it), and I lose money after fees and time.

My Ebay sales have been pretty good lately. I am guessing its all what you sell and when you sell it. I play the market trends to capitalize the most I can get for a card.

When I attempt to sell cards on FCB, I usually try to be competitive with Ebay prices. I dont mind discounting a bit depending if a person buys multiple cards. As for Ebay fees...As a seller, those are my problem and I pay them for using Ebay. A buyer on here that was to purchase or win and auction on Ebay would still pay the price that the card goes for, I should not have to lower my sale price because I am not paying fees here on FCB.

When I list cards on here at my lowest prices, people still expect discounts for $1.00 GU & Autos. And many want the $1.00 card to be that price DLVD. Like I need to take a larger loss on a card. I dont high ball the prices, which is why I prefer to negotiate via PM, some people I give discounts to based on the manner in which they conduct business. People who are difficult or rude or even just plain ignorant, I wont discount.

I just sold a bunch of stuff on eBay at a loss, yes, I would say it's a buyers market but I can't find anything I'm looking for!

It's been pretty awful from my perspective.

Some of the guys I've followed that I've been really surprised about:

Prince Fielder: On pace for over 40 homers and close to 150 RBI while batting over .300, and his cards have barely moved.
Desmond Jennings: Came back from an injury-plagued season last year and has hit .300+ with some power, tons of speed and a great BB:K ratio. Is now in AAA and continues to rake and his cards have seen almost no increases.
Albert Pujols: One pace for 50 homers and his 3rd MVP, and his cards have not been really hot at all. They were hotter earlier in the season, but have dropped back a bit.
Nelson Cruz: True he's not too young, but he's hitting for serious pop, and his Chrome's are under $2.
Jered Weaver: Pitching quite well and his BC Auto (which was an SP) is right around $20 if not less.

The market has caused me to be a buyer in some of these cases, as the prices are just too low. Hopefully we see some rebound going forward.

It is a buyer's market for baseball it is a seller's market for football at this point in time.

Perhaps the card market will regain a sense of sanity it used to have when card prices peaked a year or two before the player retired after a HOF career ;)

Seriously, the bubble had to burst at some point, right?
