How can card companies better authenticate autos?

I have 3 of these cards and have had 6 of them in my years of collecting. This is the worst autograph I have ever seen on one of these cards. It doesn't match any of the other autos I have seen on this card. In fact, it's just a bad A-Rod autograph all together. So I got to wondering if this was legit. Every one of these cards I have owned started with a serial # of BAE...... This one starts with BAC. Maybe because Upper Deck made the "E" curved sort of like a "C" and the forgerer couldn't duplicate the funny looking "E". Check it out.
