I walked into my local shop today he had this in the case offered him $65 he accepted. So how did I do?

Nice! The market's flooded with Darvish autos but that one still goes for around $100.
As a shop owner I would have taken that offer as well.
My singles are typically at or around ebay especially if you arent whipping out a cc.

No, it actually just depends on the shop. Some owners, if they make enough money in other avenues, are more than happy to let singles go very cheaply. Of course then again, I don't anticipate finding a card like this Darvish at my shop anyways.

Thanks guys... I think that he pulled the card himself worked in my favor. He said it was the last pack in the box everyone passed on it so he opened it.

What I mean with that is, somebody would have already probably purchased it. A lot of good stuff goes real quick.

If you want something go for it. Even if you pull nothing but duds or just regular commons its usually worth it if only for the excitement of pulling something great.

The fact that you did grab something nice is icing on the cake. 
. I usually grab boxes of old 90's stuff because I love that decade, over-saturation or not, but I've been Wal-Mart hunting a bit lately to catch one of those Harpers or Trouts everyone was talking about, in an attempt to catch up with the last twelve years or so. Hell yeah to ya man.
Sorry for the double post and all. I'm at the bar and the beer is flowing freely. Mr. cgilmo I plan on getting an avatar soon too..
