I swung and missed on this auction:

[ebay:1ln7e2nx]310170654025[/ebay:1ln7e2nx]

My max bid was still $2.50 too little (well, probably more than that). I had no idea where this card would go. I just won the silver last week for litteral almost HALF of what this went for. And the numbering is only different by about 9 (gold/15 vs. silver/24).

I hate to bother the board with those "how much do you think this will get" threads, but I guess that's the only way.

Anyone else have any other stories of massive whiffs when it comes to price estimation?

Hard to say even for me on that one Hive. Gotta take a stab in the dark unless you really want it and can oversnipe....

A set collector probably mailed this one and for that reason I just figure you have to double the going rate or a normal card with a similar print run. If the silver went say $75, I would have set a snipe for $200 on the gold.

These late 90s and early 2000 UD low numbered sets are weird to gauge. You have player collectors and set builders going after things, two groups who are notorious for doing some odd stuff to final values. When I was looking for the 1999 SP Authentic Gold (/50) O'Neill auto the prices seemed to be all over the place. Some went for as low as $50 when others as high as $150. I think this might have to do with the auction title and/or auction end date/time, but who knows. If you're looking for a rare Yount I have a 2005 UD HOF jersey/auto #1/1 I'd be willing to part with.
