I admit I was younger then and gem mint grades made a base non-autographed card worth substantially more than the grading fees (remember those days?).

You know you have conviction in your prospecting when you send both BGS and PSA each over 100 base chromes of a guy whom, at that time, carried a book value of less than $1.00.

Adam Miller, circa 2003.

On the plus side, those are probably worth less than a dollar each again ;)

Are you still holding him? You actually sold me a couple last year or the year before.

I think having 100 RC Auto's of a guy shows conviction as well.

Yeah, man. I don't think anyone has a larger Ammo collection than me. I have like 92 base PSA 10 left. I actually sent them another 70 a year later. I probably have 50+ BGS 9.5 left too.

I just wish he could stay healthy. I'm obviously a huge fan.

Yeah, but those weren't worth a total of less than $200 when I paid over $1,500 to have them graded.

Wouldn't it be nice to have 100 Longo's?

Make wallpaper out of them.

All the signs said that he would be legit. His arm is/was obviously incredible. Reminds me a little of Jarrod Parker actually, not sure how accurate that is.

It's ballsy to put that much into one guy, and as you well know, the payoffs can be huge.

Yeah. Just don't tell my Clint Everts stash about it.

Want a 9.5 chrome for kicks? LOL

Still have that Bruce red 1/1? He is primed to take off this season.

:lol: :lol: I actually think I still have the Miller PSA 10s I got from you.

Wasn't me with the Bruce Red...all I ever had of Bruce was a ton of TCU Autos and some 9.5 BCDPs (which you sold to me too, if I remember right), and sold them all.

That's right. I think topnotchsy won the Bruce red.

Maybe Miller will make a splash somewhere other than the DL this season.

He has a fantastic slider to compliment that high 90's heat.

Marlins SP Andrew Miller, who went 6-10 with a 5.87 ERA and walked 56 batters in 107 1/3 innings as a rookie last year, begins camp with a new motion designed to improve his command and reduce pounding on his right knee, which has been prone of bouts of tendinitis the past two years. Soreness sent him to the disabled list for six weeks last season. "Nobody ever really did too much with Andrew," pitching coach Mark Wiley said. "That's what happens -- guys who have great arms in high school and college can dominate, and nobody is going to try to fix it too much. We let him settle in last year in the big leagues, and as time went on we talked about it and finally he said, 'I need to change.' We came up with a plan, and he's happy with it so far."

The new motion reduces Miller's hip swivel at the start, giving him a more direct route to the plate. He has yet to face a hitter, but manager Fredi Gonzalez said he sees a more consistent delivery. "The last two bullpens were outstanding," Gonzalez said after Sunday's drills. "He has been working extremely hard on that, and you can tell a big difference. He repeats it. If he can do that, there's no question the arm is there. The consistency is what got him in trouble last year, and it was his delivery. If he can repeat it and keep it that simple, we've got a heck of a pitcher on our hands."

I've put some decent money into individual players, but nothing more than 10 to 20 cards, and I always stay very conservative with pitchers due to injury risk.

I was just being "that guy." People used to get them mixed up all the time and it would drive me nuts. :lol:

I did. Do you recall what I paid? I sold it a long while back, I think I got $475 or $525 for it. Sold it to someone in Puerto Rico.

And as if that wasn't bad enough ... 10 gold refractors, 12 blue refractors, and a bunch of lower parallels. Barf.

You may have conviction in prospecting if you have changed Wikipedia's Jason Stokes entry from;

"Retired in late 2007", to;

"HE'S DONE WHEN I SAY HE'S DONE"
