Aside from the couple stinkers shown here, including that Jeter that would have made my head explode if I pulled, this years Best Of seems to be better than last years offering. So far I have seen about 20 cases broken and most average individual boxes were seeing a 50% or so ROI, compared to last year when I was seeing 30% or so. I've also seen more 'break even' boxes too. This could just be because of a relative small sample but 20 cases worth should be good enough for a idea...

I would love to hear how that Jeter made it into this product.
And please dont tell me that you will buy it back from him for x amount of dollars.
I want to know how that happened when these boxes are hand packed, correct?

Should've trimmed the bottom before getting it stabbed authentic lol

On a positive note, I tried one box and hit a 84 Donruss Mattingly BGS 9.5 + A Mike Schmidt sketch that doesn't look like a third grader drew it.

Wow what a joke, but did we really expect more? At least with the other best of's there was 1 box in the case that netted more than the price of the box. This new product isnt even close. I seen some real stinker cases with some "sketchy" sketch cards, you would think someone at lef would look at the sketches and reject them.

But hey who cares they sold out...

This years product is easily far superior to last years.. There are hundreds more boxes thy yield a profit this this year than last..

Obviously , I know the content the best.. Bg

Ps- noted on the Moore sketches

This is probably the most egregious card I've seen in BOB (taken from a break from another forum):

Look at the bottom right corner area...disgusting.

Looks like Beckett pooched the card and we missed it..
I will gladly replace this card!!!!
Apologies for this one as it is unacceptable.. BG

Leaf is SO SHADY. Pull a Griffey reds auto or a DAMAGED Jeter card in a 250 box. This is a joke of a company. I think we should require MLB licencing to be considered a card because this is seriously disgusting.

I love this product. This year's BOB was the first case I've ever purchased of any product. I didn't break even, although I did get some cool cards and an awesome Panagan sketch. It was the most fun I've had opening the boxes. If I can scratch up some more funds before this stuff sells out I hope to buy another case of it.

Dude is offering to replace the card. Whats the big deal? Yeah you pulled a crappy card but who do you think is packing these boxes? I would bet my paycheck it is not someone who collects cards. Now if you want to complain that is should have never made it to the pack out I can understand as I am sure the people buying are more educated in the hobby.

How is this any differnt than buying a box of cards and getting shorted a hit. You call, complain, and the company fixes the issue.

Shady is the wrong word. While it's true they have a limited staff and limited resources to catch stuff like this, I have found that the claims of intentional deception are unwarranted.

Also, as far as the licensing situation you realize that you are pretty much saying that only topps dare produce baseball cards right? That just sounds wrong to me. Leaf stuff is just another choice, if it's for you buy it. If you wanna hate on it, that's fine but don't sit there and brow beat them while praising topps when both companies have the same situation. It's wax, it's a gamble, and topps boxes have a similar risk v reward factor.

You gotta say this....At least this B.G. dude comes and defends or wants to corrects issues with his company...Kudos to that for sure! Try getting Mr Topps to come talk to you, or say he'll replace that Jeter card, or take constructive critisism about a sketch card...

I dont know this guy, don't particularly love Leaf products...BUT...What I've read on the forums about him spending cash at the National, and seeing how he actually dives right into these forums with "us", I will for sure buy some Leaf! Just for gp!

Thank you for dropping cash back into our hobby dude!

But when you try to have a legitimate mature conversation about an issue involving alleged shadiness of this company that truly affects many of us here, the threads continuously get locked down.

Only after the thread has run it's course. Threads should have shelf lives, eventually the conversation has to move on to a new topic.

Beating a dead horse is borings and it sucks the life out of the forum.

Ah, but not when there's new information that's developing every day just because those threads were posted (and subsequently locked). I understand that speaking negatively about any manufacturer is not necessarily good for "Freedom Cardboard", the store, as it needs to have a strong relationship with all manufacturers. How BLowoutcards gets away with it is beyond me, I believe it's the distance the owner puts between it and the forum. However, stifiling speech about manufacturers -- be it ITG, Leaf, Panini, Topps, whomever, doesn't help this community or the hobby whatsoever.

Yes, admittedly, other posters added their less than mature remarks to the purple backdoor threads in question, and perhaps it may be best to deal with those individual posts singularly rather than ending all discussion on the topic. After all - this is nothing but not a discussion board. We all want to see it succeed as many of us call it "home". However, much like Beckett, if non-inflammatory, non-attacking (towards other users) speech is ended, users may bolt to "freer" venues.

Nothing about that thread was mature jeff. Don't kid yourself.

I respectfully disagree. Myself, and numerous others have pumped a lot of money into that product. There was an issue with it and it was a rational attempt to discern why one seller had so many of one type of card. If cardboardconglomerate was selling 20 each of the Blue Wave Autos, and I was heavily invested into the chrome auto, I'd post the same type of post.

Leaf again with the best customer service in the market. Some killer hits have been flowing out of BOB. But here we get the typical crying over a sketch card and damaged Jeter. That BG said he would replace.

But at what point do we move on Jeff? You are never going to get a satisfactory answer so there is no point in leaving the thread active.

I get that you want blood, but not at the expense of conversation on this board.

I'm not sure how this is at any sacrifice of conversation on the board. I think fraud of this level being uncovered is paramount to what this board stands for. I have two different people, providing unsolicited testimony to me, indicating a backdoor transaction between a manufacturer and a large eBayer.

If I was a baseball card collector/investor and was reading on a message board, I'd certainly want to read that over a mailday topic or how someone's PSA submissions turned out.

First, I appreciate Jeff's concern..

Second, I strongly feel that his post was an attempt to create controversy and buzz. If he actually wanted an answer, he knows full well he could call me to discuss.

I am not unapproachable and answer every question I can, but Jeff, this is exactly why I constantly discourage hecklers from ruining perfectly good discussions between manufacturer and collector.. BG
