I've been a hockey fan since I was about 8, so around 1987. I remember going to Pens games with my Dad back then since he used to get tickets quite often from his work. They weren't all that great at that time besides Lemieux, so he obviously became my favorite player on the team. While I don't collect much hockey cards now a days, my love for the Pens and hockey will always be here.

Been a huge Caps fan for as long as I can remember. I can vividly recall daily arguments in grade school with this kid Robby, who was a Pens fan. (Nothing malicious... We were good friends who happened to like rival teams. Of course he always seemed to get the last laugh.)

I've always collected baseball cards more than hockey cards but I grew up playing hockey at the Caps' old practice rink in Maryland so I'd go to practices and get autographs whenever I was off from school. Every year I made it my goal to get an auto of every player on the team but I think the closest I ever came was 8 or 9 short, and it was hard with all the call-ups and trades. Those attempts did leave me with about 20 autographs each of Peter Bondra and Michal Pivonka, though.

Since the early 60's. Grew up watching the Rangers on Wed and Sat nights. My Dad followed the Habs , he was born in Montreal, so I HAD to be different.

Later on when my son got interested started to follow the NJ DEVILS with him. Became a season Ticket holder in 1999.

Some of my hockey involvement:
Founding member and Director of Sussex County Inline Hockey League.
President of Sparta NJ Inline Hockey.
Director of Referees , Sussex Inline Hockey.
Founding Board of Directors, Sparta Youth Ice Hockey
Coached all levels from Mites to High School, both Inline and Ice.

Affectionately known as the "Grandfather of Sparta Hockey".
Currently have 4 players in D1 and 3 in D3 college programs.

I have been a LA Kings fan since the mid 80's. I saw the Triple Crown Line (Dionne/Simmer/Taylor) at the Fabulous Forum and I was hooked. I was a sucker for those gold jerseys. :)

I played hockey at Northern Arizona University (Go Jacks!) and played beer league here in Burbank for the Droogs.

I grew up in a small town in Tennessee listening to Blues games on KMOX. I started at around age 12. As you can imagine, hockey coverage was not much back in those days in the South. I loved reading Hockey Digest and The Sporting News for my hockey fix.

Later when I was at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville got an ECHL team called the Cherokees. The quality of play wasn't always great but the effort was there. Those were fun games to attend and the fan base was very rowdy!

Now, I follow the Preds, but I always loved the Penguins and Canucks. There aren't many clubs I can't watch and enjoy, though.

Cool thread....

I've been a hockey fan since 1995 when the Colorado Avalanche came to be. Before that, my parents were both huge hockey fans and loved going to the Minnesota North Stars games. So when they left my parents were pretty bummed and stopped paying much attention to hockey, but they both had a passing interest in the Avalanche because my mom and her family are originally from Denver, Colorado. So when they found out Colorado was receiving a team we all became pretty excited.

I became really infatuated with hockey from then until probably I'd say 1999 or 2000. Then I just kind of stopped watching for whatever reason. Not really sure why. I would occasionally watch a little bit here and there if it happened to be on TV and nothing else was on. I'd watch the all-star game most years. That was about it though. Then when the Minnesota Wild started getting good I started getting more and more interested in the sport again.

I'd say I've been a hockey fan again since like 2007 or 2008. I went to my first and only Minnesota Wild game and I've been having a lot of fun following along and learning about the game again since then.

I loved hockey as a kid. I grew up in L.A. and my Dad took me to a couple Kings games. (for some reason, the Kings were always playing the Winnipeg Jets when we went...at least that's what i remember).

As I got older, i mostly just played and watched baseball but after moving to Portland, OR, I got back into watching hockey and became a Vancouver Canucks fan because they were the closest team. (around 2004).

I had the same kind of feeling growing up and going to the Dodgers games. It seems like Burt Hooten was ALWAYS pitching for the Dodgers. :)
