How rare are the 2001 Beckett Issued Sample Cards (Donruss, Leaf etc.?)

I just picked up a few 2001 Donruss Class of, and 2001 Leaf Rookies & Stars - was told they can be quite pricey but I'm just not seeing that on ebay. Does anyone have any input on these cards, their value and how much they should go for? Apparently they came distributed with becketts.

Donruss did insert various brands from their 2001 sets in Becketts for a few months that year, whatever the next set to come out was. They generally were ignored at the time, although as usual you'd hear about random people who collected them and tried to figure out things about them. I don't know that anyone assembled a complete set of any one brand, or if Donruss or Beckett put out any info, but consensus seemed to me to be that they did put out promos of every player so it should have been possible to get your player or collect the set. I remember I was still buying Beckett at the time and would flip through the stack at the LCS to see who the best promo was to choose from, as the magazines came in plastic wrap with the promo outside of the magazine, or else it was loosely inserted and you could work the card out into view. Based on what Beckett's print run was, that was probably a few hundred copies of each player, most of which probably ended up in the trash or in the monster box at the bottom of the closet, resulting in some scarcity today. I wouldn't be surprised if a HOF or Star player brought in a fair amount at auction today, but neither would I be surprised if it went unsold for 99 cents. Very niche things.

The gold foil samples are the most sought out versions. Advertised at 10% of the print run of the silvers. I remember them being glued to subscription cards with that puddy looking stuff that doesn't cause damage when you peel the item off.

Beckett checklist says there is a Garvey gold promo for the 2003 Donruss Team set, but I have never seen or heard of one being offered. I have a couple of the silver copies though.

Got an 02 Donruss Originals Gold Sample for $12. Was pretty pleased at that price.

This is very interesting - Based upon the beckett checklist, it shows Canseco has some gold samples as well ... i wonder if they actually exist!

I have several Grace's. This topic has been explored before, I'll have to see if I can find links, since we compiled known sets that were included. Golds are tough, and the program ran from 2001-2003. Here are the Grace's I have.
