I cannot spell it out any more clearly than this. Obviously the OP felt the shipping charges were reasonable since he won the card. If he felt they were unreasonable, HE SHOULD NOT HAVE BID ON THE CARD. Every card I have ever purchased on eBay, I have looked at the shipping charges and factored that into how much I was willing to pay for the card. If I felt the shipping was too high, I didn't buy the card. Real simple. I've never won an auction with high shipping and then tried to haggle the price of the shipping.

The OP should have paid better attention to the auction. He admitted he was in a hurry and missed the shipping costs. That is not the seller's fault, ever. In no way should the seller's DSR rating be lowered because the OP bought the card but doesn't want to pay the shipping. The best course of action would have been to not buy the card.

The shipping charge is against Ebays policies and you are not required to pay it. Per ebays policy and unreasonable shipping charge used to negate fees is against policy and is not a valid auction. Whether that is his intention or not, is irregardless, you can still make a case for it. If he says the shipping price is correct just turn it in to ebay, it will get taken care of.

The lack of consistency bothers me the most. The same item (9.5 slab) gets delivered priority for 3.99, the same item gets delivered priority 2.99 and the same item gets delivered for 4.99 and then mine gets delivered for 13.29?

Of course I am serious, you leave in a dream world. Change your ebay items to $13 for delivery and you will see very quickly how your point of view is in the minority.

Funny.....I have 1600+ feedback and all my DSRs are 4.8 or higher, doesn't seem that difficult ::facepalm::

Of course I am serious, you leave in a dream world. Change your ebay items to $13 for delivery and you will see very quickly how your point of view is in the minority.

We're not talking about me, we're talking about how you bought a card knowing the cost, decided you were going to buy it and try and get a cheaper price.

Besides, the difference is I would not complain after I already bought the card about shipping cost...

A real easy way around this whole thing, is to log into paypal and click the send money tab. After that go to pay for ebay items, click on that auction and manually adjust the shipping price yourself to 3.99 or whatever. Pay for it and my guess is that you will receive it and this problem will go away.

Exactly! Although I do not understand why someone would bid on an item with Shipping charges they are not satisfied with unless it was a rare or hard to find item. A number of people (many in this post) seem to think a seller can charge what ever they want for S/H and they buyer should simply factor it into the bid. Of course this does happen BUT this is exactly what Ebay is trying to move away from AND completely against Ebay's TOS. Shipping & Handling charges are for the exact shipping and handling cost only. The reason they put in the 5-Star system was to reward and discourage sellers by comparing them to other sellers. If sellers do not want to get poor ratings then simply follow Ebay's TOS - very simple.

Just the other day, I bid on an card that had $10.14 shipping. I would only pay $15 total for the card, so I bid $4.86. Now why would I go and leave low DSRs and/or negative feedback when I knew damn well what the shipping charge was. I ACCEPTED the $10.14 shipping, even if it is high. It's flat out ignorant to accept something and then "complain" about it. It's like this, with lowering the seller's DSRs over the shipping you AGREED to, you are in essence trying to WARN people about the clear as day shipping charges they should be smart enough to not agree to, by not bidding, if they don't like the price.

Although what you say makes sense, the best way to fight high shipping charges is to not bid. If you think the shipping is outrageous, don't agree to it... it's as simple as that.

Well for me, if I was paying $10.14 for shipping it had better be the best shipping process I have ever seen. If its just throw into a bubble mailer, a hard sleeve and no team bag im dinging the stars. His actual shipping and Handling did not meet my expectations when I paid $10.14 for shipping and Handling.

I never said that seller should be able to charge whatever they want for shipping. I said that I factor shipping costs into what I am willing to pay for a card. If I bid on a card with $10 shipping, I am well aware that the shipping is $10 and I am obviously okay with that because I bid on the card. That was the point. If you do not agree with the shipping costs, do not bid. Very simple. If you disagree with the shipping costs, why buy the card and then leave poor ratings? The seller did not force the OP to purchase the card. That is the point.

I guess it all boils down to there being two kinds of eBayers. Ones who pay for shipping, and those who pay for the items they win. I pay for what I want and basically disregard the shipping charge by incorporating it into my bid. I simply don't care or even think about shipping charges... I'm more worried about getting the item I won in the condition I expect.

If people want positive feedback and 5 stars across the board here is a novel idea: provide reasonable rates and good service. This board is very prospector/profit driven so the general tone sides with the seller. As a collector who primarily buys I appreciate honesty in feedback so I know what I'm dealing with when buying on ebay. Why protect a seller who is doing things the wrong way by leaving 5 stars for something that doesn't deserve 5 stars? Isn't it meaningless for the guy that offers free shipping or shipping for $2.50 if both get 5 stars? Basically what people here are saying is that shipping price doesn't matter so it can't be unreasonable or reasonable. Maybe on $25+ cards, but for many collectors that pick up $3-$10 cards frequently the shipping charges are VERY important and can be reasonable and unreasonable.
