I think the key is how can Topps add value without encreasing their costs a lot. A step in the right direction was the alternative photo prospects in the Bowman Chrome. It was not too much additional cost to produce those cards and they increased the value of box breaking for collectors. Another suggestion along those lines is adding more insert sets. One possible theme is "Organiations" where by they produce prospect cards of some of the more obscure prospects in an organization such as the Red Sox. Make it a subset with the same design only a different numbering system or letters. At first use some of the more popular organizations then branch out to the others.

Along the "Organization" lines I have always hoped for a Bowman chrome product that attempts to make a card for EVERY player within a given organization for a 1 year period. Now that topps has the minor league license they could do it. They could put out boxes of just those cards and they would sell, even at an increased price.

Interesting take. I'm not sure I want any card in my box to be the 29 year old third baseman for the Single A Red Sox Affiliate. Actually, that's not true. I'm very sure I don't want that card. Anyone that does can buy the team set they offer at the ball field.

We really don't need to reinvent the wheel here. The formula for replacing Bowman Chrome successfully is already set with how Bowman and Bowman Draft are made up. Except we're talking about adding chrome vet cards to Bowman. This will work and will result in boxes that don't dip below cost two weeks after release. The only "tough" part is how many vets/rc need to be made to be split between Bowman w/Chrome Series 1 and Series 2, but leaves enough RC for Bowman Draft. In the past RC's have overlapped between Bowman, Bowman Chrome, and then Bowman Draft. Could they go a different direction with Bowman Draft and make it Bowman Draft/Update? Then the RC section could be made up of Traded Players and new Rookies. I would support that and it would retain value across the products. Topps can always get creative on additional cards to go in Draft/Update so they can throw in more Harper type players similar to the way they did in Topps Update including Debut Dates on the RC's.
