Question, is the total cost of the break spread between all those items listed, ie players and teams?

Well I've been looking for suggestions for 10 days or so. So with that said , I took what I had heard to make it what I last posted. I'll take examples just posted. When stated Grace and Belle you feel are too expensive, that's less than $1 and $2 per box across the board. I'd like to hear what is you "fair" prices. I can re look at things if there are suggestions. But I'll be honest it's not like each player can be $10. Then from the suggestions of team breaks, I was getting more feedback from players that stated the teams would be too expensive etc. ex @MansGame to buy into the Orioles and White sox with Ripken, Frank, etc to get Belle your costs would be 7xs as much or something. So to break it down and pull Belle out and your cost be $30, like .95/box, I am not sure what better risk/reward there is.

Again if you see your player and your saying that's too hi, PM me what your thoughts are.

Ryan

Know that your efforts are not unappreciated. I will let you know what I come up with once I do a little number crunching.

RStadlerASU22 - Yea man, I wasn't flaming out on you or bashing your efforts... I think you've put in a TON of time and energy behind this but I'm just not interested in Albert Belle @ $30 for the slot. I'm not saying that isn't fair, just that FOR ME I'm going to sit out for that price.

To be fair, I did a quick look down the list of boxes and this is what I see considering my PC and what I still need:

1997 Certified – MIRROR BLACKS ONLY
1997 Finest 1 – NONE
1997 Finest 2 – ONE OF THE TWO EMBOSSED REFRACTORS
1997 Totally Certified – NONE
1998 Bowman 2 – NONE

1998 Bowman Chrome Series 2 – GOLDEN ANN. & REF
1998 Bowmans Best – ATOMIC REF. AUTO
1998 Flair – NONE
1998 Metal – NONE

1998 Skybox Circa Thunder – SUPER RAVE
1998 Sports Illustated – ONLY THE 1/1
1998 Sports Illustated WS – ONLY THE 1/1
1998 Stadium Even – TRIUMVIRATE VARIATIONS?
1998 Stadium Even Retail – NONE
1998 Stadium Odd – NONE

1998 Ultra Series 2 – ONLY 1/1
1999 Black Diamond – NONE
1999 Finest 1 – NONE
1999 Finest 1 Jumbo – NONE
1999 Finest 2 – NONE

1999 Fleer Tradition – ONLY STARTING 9
1999 Metal Universe – NONE
1999 Pacific – NONE

1999 Pacific Aurora – OPENING DAY AND RED
1999 Pacific Omega – TWO CARDS
1999 Stadium Series 2 – TWO CARDS AND PP
1999 Topps Gold Label – BLACK AND RED LABELS AND 1/1
1999 UpperDeck 2 – 1/1s
2000 Pacific – NONE
2000 Pacific Aurora – NONE
2001 Pacific – NONE
2001 Upper Deck 1 – NONE

So in summary, 17 of the boxes I don’t even have a card potentially to pull because my PC is so air tight. The balance is basically 1/1s or extremely hard ‘90s cards to find, so I guess I could roll the dice for one of those to hit but I guess $30 is above my threshold :( Sorry, it’s not your fault.

There's no offense taken, and yes I understand people may not "need" every card. From a Will Clark Standpoint I'm like you in that maybe half of these boxes aren't cards I'm missing but like with Belle if the Totally Certified Gold comes out, that's an extra I'd def take and can move it for something else. So I'm not looking at it exactly as a person needs every card still, but they still will get every card pulled and if its an extra they can move it. Just out of curiosity, what is a Belle price you'd say, yeah that's worth the gamble/fun/possible hit/possible loss?

For me, Grace just seems to fit in the $30 players. I can't see him priced $60 and Sandberg $30. I'm kinda in mansgame situation where there's not a lot except 1/1 I could hope to add to my PC that wouldn't be duplicate. Your break got a lot more boxes than I thought it'd have, but some of the product you can't hope for much out of. I'd rather it was less boxes, some better brands (tek, gallery, stadium club, bowman). I know though that it's tough to find those boxes.

For me, I see Gwynn more as a $150 player, like Griffey and Ripken, so I am deeply offended! ;)

I've said it before, and it goes with what Gracecollector said: less boxes, better brands, and smaller buy-ins would be better for me, but even then, there would be quite a few of those products that I wouldn't be in for if you did. I may be too wishy-washy for this type of break.

You bring up a good point. I mean there are some major hits in there that I woudl be happy about for a double. Let me think of a price and for the sake of the group I'll move to PM with you. Honestly though, I think this is a really cool, great idea and would be fun. Wish it were in person lol... now THAT would be fun to break among fellow collectors from the time.

This made me literally almost spit my coffee all over my keyboard. So good.

I'd like to claim Nomar, but like others have been saying the price point is a bit much. $60 for one player....Maybe $60 for Nomar and the Angels team slot. It seems like the details are still being worked out, but I'm definitely interested if anything gets finalized. I appreciate all the effort, Ryan.

My advice would be to break it up into 30 slots and split it evenly. Then just do a team draft. Some win, some lose, but that's probably the only way I'd participate.

What would that come out too per slot?

Somewhere around $65-$70 with shipping and supplies. Figuring a teams worth is prob a medium flat rate box. Lmk thoughts on that type of random. Is there enough interest?

I'd definitely be in for a slot at that price. Would be a really fun break to participate in.

I would be in for the Cubs slot if gracecollector is no longer interested.

Ok guys/gals, I really want to try this break and more in the future. The player/rest of the team breakdown is the way Id like it to be personally as Id like to see a player collector hit something nice and enjoy it. So with that said, I crunched a bunch of #'s (over and over). I went through and cut, cut, and cut some more. I went with the philosophy to sell out everything, vs the "only half" will sell thought. So I'd like feedback on this most updated list. It shows the new price/old price was at. It also shows what the breakdown really is for the slot and a few options etc. Now for us to to break, basically all the player slots need to sell. So I need help getting people to sign up, if you know of a player collector who may be interested, send them this way. I really tried to provide the best price, and negotiated the wax down some to help. I hope it is all still available be the time we confirm were doing this. So please if you can, check out the new pricing etc. Shoot me feedback about pricing high/low etc. I think some are actually too low, but I want to sell out. If I cant sell the lots like Jeter, Ripken, Griffey that's fine, I will take em and we still can proceed. Thanks
Ryan

RStadlerASU22 - Can you confirm I'm reading this right... First, still the original 32 boxes you listed previously? Second, $24 for the Albert Belle spot and then $24.12 for shipping ($0.66 X 32 boxes = $21.12 + $3 s/h). Thanks, I'll let you know!

No, that's $24 with shipping. It's .66x32=21 + 3shipping =24 total. As stated I did what I could to bring everything down where I don't think anyone is overpriced to most standards. However it requires basically a sellout, like I said if some of the expensive guys like Jeter don't move then I can take that cost on, but we need the players to be sold. I am looking for comments and would like a gauge on sales today n tomorrow to see if it moves forward.
